Sonic Foundry (AMEX: SFO), a leading developer and marketer of media authoring tools for the Windows platform, announced today that is has added two more titles to the growing collection of original, license-free audio clips (loop libraries) for its ACID loop-based music creation software. This brings the total number of libraries available to 21. The two new libraries, Universal Groove Elements and Twisted Reality, feature standard .wav or .aif sound files that are fully optimized to take advantage of ACID's advanced time stretching/compressing and pitch change features.

The Universal Groove Elements library features a multitude of musical genres boiled down to the core essentials. This broad assortment of contemporary electronic sounds and textures includes all the building blocks needed to construct fully-realized pieces of exquisite, cutting-edge music. The definitive collection of all that moves and grooves, from hip-hop to techno, basslines to beats, Universal Groove Elements truly has it all.

The Twisted Reality library provides users with a trip through warped worlds, fantastic futurescapes, and unidentifiable ethereal realms. This is a collection of electronically-generated sound effects and 'one-shots' that that defy imagination and categorization, from vocal weirdness to vintage FX noises. With Twisted Reality, ACID users can expand their creativity and explore strange, uncharted territory.

"The addition of these two new loop libraries to the Loops for ACID series demonstrates our ongoing commitment to generate new content for the ACID music development platform," said Roy Elkins, Sonic Foundry Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "These two libraries in particular provide ACID users with an eclectic collection of electronically-generated audioclips that can be used in a variety of innovative ways."

With ACID, loops can be previewed in real time before being opened, and the software also automatically matches the tempo and pitch of loops for instant synchronization. Changing the pitch of a project merely involves selecting the desired key from a drop-down menu. ACID supports unlimited tracks, depending on system RAM, and each track includes the volume, pan, and effect envelopes for greater editing control.

ACID is available for both the Windows 9x and Windows NT platforms and requires a Pentium 133 with a Windows-compatible sound card. A Pentium II processor is recommended for real time effects.
