More Affordable Notation Software from Cakewalk

    By Guest |

Cakewalk, the industry-leading provider of music and sound creation software, announced Score Writer, a low-price software product for anyone interested in learning about, creating and printing sheet music.

The Windows 95/98 software enables users to compose, arrange, record and publish music scores and lead sheets. Score Writer is as easy to use as a word processor and produces the same high quality output of products twice the price. It is the ideal solution for casual musicians, music educators, music students, and worship leaders. It is also the best value for band and choral directors who do not need the high-end features of professional notation packages like Cakewalk Overture 2.

"We want to expose everyone to the fun of writing their own music," said Jim Rippie, product manager, Cakewalk. "Software as easy to use as Score Writer lets beginners start fast and experiment in infinite ways. Best of all, the price is so low that everyone can afford to be a composer."

With Score Writer, users can create, edit and arrange quality scores fast. Users can input notes with any MIDI instrument or a computer keyboard or mouse. To enhance a score, users simply select notation markings from a variety of palettes, then "drag and drop" into place. Score Writer offers rhythmic notation capabilities and prints arrangements of up to 16 instruments with chords and lyrics. It includes an assortment of music templates to help users get started quickly.

Score Writer also enables users to edit and print sheet music from standard MIDI files. MIDI files are available free on the Internet, available for purchase from retail and online dealers, and can be created by users using music authoring software like Cakewalk Home Studio or Guitar Studio.

    Pricing and Availability

The estimated street price of Cakewalk Score Writer is $69 ($99 MSRP) and it is available today. Cakewalk products are available worldwide and can be purchased in computer and consumer-electronic superstores, music-equipment stores, printed and online catalogs, as well as on the Cakewalk website.
