  • E-mu Ships EOS 3.0 for Emulator 4 Series

    By Guest |

E-mu Systems, Inc., announces the shipment of EOS 3.0, the latest version of E-mu software developed specifically for the Emulator 4 line of products. EOS 3.0 adds many exciting new features to the E4 line: 48-track sequencer with loop record; performance control features, such as arpeggiator, split mode, and layer mode; advanced control features; and new modulation sources and destinations. In addition, EOS 3.0 is now shipping with Emagic's EOS SoundDiver--a preset editor designed specifically for EOS products.

"EOS version 3.0 signifies E-mu's commitment to quality products," states Sean Wilhelmsen, MI Product Manager. "New features and new technologies are represented in this new version of EOS, establishing E-mu keyboards not as the industry's most prolific samplers, but as top notch workstations as well."

    Advanced control and performance features

With the advanced control features now available with EOS 3.0, each preset can be split into multiple MIDI zones that can be transmitted out to external gear from an E4K or E-Synth keyboard--making both of these keyboards great for live performances. Emulator 4 rack-mount samplers can act as the filter between a non-sophisticated controller and can supply all the needed MIDI zone information to the rest of system. Each. MIDI zone can be assigned a MIDI channel, key range, velocity range, program change, bank select, volume, and transposition. Plus, each zone can filter various control information, like pitch and modulation wheels.

    48-track sequencer

The EOS 48-track sequencer is a linear-based sequencer with loop record which features cut/copy/paste/erase/delete, normal and swing quantize as well as input quantize, rechannelization, real-time erase, and several different record modes.

    New modulation sources and destinations

EOS 3.0 adds additional modulation sources to the flexible patch-cord architecture of the Emulator 4. These new sources feature MIDI clock modulation which can now modulate various destinations. The new modulation sources are double whole, whole, half, quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes. The new destinations that have been added are: filter envelope re-trigger, auxiliary envelope re-trigger, and LF01 and LF02 re-trigger. These new destinations can be modulated by the new MIDI clock modulation sources or by the other 60+ modulation sources found in EOS.

    SoundDiver

In addition to all of the above added features, EOS 3.0 is also shipping with EOS SoundDiver from Emagic. EOS Sound Diver is a preset editor program designed specifically for E-mu's Emulator 4 line of products. With EOS SoundDiver, Emulator presets can be edited and saved from the convenience of a PC or Macintosh.

ROM support with special version EOS 3.2

In conjunction with the release of EOS 3.0, E-mu is also offering a 16 MB sound ROM board upgrade for Emulator 4 products--the E-Synth ROM. The E-Synth ROM enables the E4 to have a large pallet of pristine sounds upon boot up. EOS version 3.2 enables Emulator 4s to function as a powerful RAM sampler as well as a ROM-based synthesizer. All ROM sounds have been programmed to exploit the power of EOS and its Digital Modular Synthesis (DMS).
