  • Tarisio Auctions Launches New Fretted Strings Department

    By Guest |

After nine highly successful years auctioning violin family instruments, Tarisio is delighted to announce the opening of a department devoted to fretted strings.

The first 'frets' sale is to be held in October 2008 and will feature fine vintage acoustic and electric instruments suitable for dealers, players and collectors. It will be run by William Voiers, a widely respected industry expert. Consignments are now being accepted, with prices expected to range between $3,000 and $100,000.

Like all Tarisio sales the auction will be online, allowing buyers around the world to bid from the privacy of their own computers. All lots will be available to view at Tarisio's New York offices before the sale.

Tarisio has shot to the number one spot in the stringed instrument auction world since being launched in 1999 by three partners, Dmitry Gindin, Jason Price and Christopher Reuning. Offering consistently high-quality sales with low premiums and the flexibility of online bidding, it now sells more volume and value in musical instruments than Christies and Sotheby's, its two principal rivals. Thanks to its unrivalled expertise and guarantees of authenticity, Tarisio is also one of the most respected sources for fine stringed instruments worldwide.

Jason Price said: 'This is the logical next step for us, after defining ourselves as the auction leader in fine stringed instruments, and we're delighted to have Billy Voiers on board.'
