  • Symphonic Strings Goes MINI

    By Guest |

Sonic Network has released Symphonic Strings MINI, a follow-up to its Symphonic String Collection. "Response to the full collection has been so overwhelmingly enthusiastic, we wanted to create a version for musicians and composers with more limited budgets", said David Fox, Sales and Marketing Manager at Sonic Implants. "Although smaller than the full collection, the MINI version is still a very large and musically useful library. We were able to include all the major articulations, but employed a variety of techniques to reduce the size." The MINI version, shipping on 6 CD-ROMs, is available in Gigasampler and Soundfont formats, and has a retail price of $449.95. Other formats are in production now.

The full Collection is a 20 CD-ROM (or three DVD) boxed set in the Gigasampler format. Members of the Boston Pops and Boston Ballet string sections were recorded by 2001 Emmy award engineer Antonio Oliart and RIAA award engineer John Bono, at Sonic Temple Studios, Roslindale, MA. All programming was done in-house at the Sonic Network studio in Arlington, MA, and took almost a year to complete. Sections include 1st Violins, 2nd Violins, Violas, Cellos, Basses & ensembles which combined all sections. The collection features rich, multidynamic instruments with resonant string decays intact and gigabytes of articulations from which to choose.

"This is the largest single sample library ever released and most definitely the highest quality project I've completed in my 17 years of sound design," commented Jennifer Hruska, President and Chief Engineer at Sonic Implants. "After a solid year in production, it's extremely rewarding to hear that composers are making music within 10 minutes of installing these sounds. And the compositions they're sending us are amazing! Absolutely beautiful."

Both the Sonic Implants Symphonic Strings Collection, priced at $1,295.00, and the Symphonic Strings MINI, are on sale now at the Sonic Implants web site and will be available at selected music dealers.
