  • New MIDI Interface Optimized for BeOS

    By Guest |

Virtual DSP Corporation (VDSP), an innovator in digital guitar and audio product development, announced today that it has developed a new professional audio USB MIDI interface architecture to be hosted on the digital media Be Operating System (BeOS®) for desktop computers and Internet appliances.

The MIDI Oxygen 44 is a 64 channel MIDI patchbay (4 IN x 4 OUT) and is performance optimized for the BeOS. Because BeOS offers vastly improved latencies over competitive operating systems, VDSP is able to offer 1-2 milliseconds total system latency for any MIDI IN to any MIDI OUT with the MIDI Oxygen system.

Steve Dame, CEO and President of Virtual DSP Corporation noted, "We are very excited about this relationship with Be as a way to deliver professional grade MIDI and audio products that we believe will raise the bar in the industry for high performance music production on an average personal computer."

"We are delighted to have Virtual DSP on Be's digital media operating system platform," said Jim Rippie, Be's audio evangelist. "For a 5-year old company, they are strong in engineering talent and market experience, and are going to bring superior USB-based MIDI hardware interfaces to BeOS customers. The marriage of cost-effective MIDI interfaces with the native media advantages of BeOS means benefits for users."
