  • Molten Voltage Presents the World's Smallest Professional MIDI Footswitch ~ Molten MIDI™

    By Guest |

Space on your pedalboard comes at a premium. Molten MIDI has a footprint of less than four (4) square inches, making it the smallest professional MIDI footswitch in the world.

Molten MIDI is designed to provide an extremely compact, rugged, and simple way to control a MIDI device without datawheels, little screens, etc., and for products like Digitech's Whammy 4 that can't save presets. It has a 10-position rotary switch that is oriented like a clock, so even on a dark stage it's easy to figure out what setting you're using.

Inside Molten MIDI sits an 8-pin microcontroller in a socket. The question with Molten MIDI isn't so much what can it do, but what do you want it to do.

Molten MIDI and the Digitech Whammy 4 (WH-4)

If you own a Whammy 4, you know you need a MIDI controller to randomly access the modes, and the Whammy doesn't save presets.

Molten MIDI comes pre-programmed with ten killer settings for the Digitech Whammy 4:

1 | Step Through Whammy's Modes ~ down the columns ~ top left to bottom right

2 | 5th Up Harmony > Octave Up Harmony ~ classic Bass Whammy setting

    3 | 4th Down Harmony > 5th Up Harmony ~ classic Bass Whammy setting

4 | Pitch Shift +2 > Pitch Shift Unison ~ classic Bass Whammy setting

5 | Pitch Shift 4th Down > Pitch Shift Unison

6 | Pitch Shift Unison > Pitch Shift Octave Plus a flat 3rd Up

7 | Pitch Shift Unison > Pitch Shift Octave Plus a 5th Up

    8 | Arpeggio! ~ looping root 3rd 5th octave pitch shift ~ on > off

9 | Flight of the Bumblebee ~ on > off

    10 | Ambulance American > stop > Ambulance British > stop

It is important to note that Molten MIDI doesn't change the limits of the Whammy's expression pedal, to do that, you need Molten Voltage to modify your Whammy with its Pitch Limiter Controls: http://www.moltenvoltage.com/whammy_mods.html

Just so its clear, you don't need to modify your Whammy 4 to use Molten MIDI, but using Molten MIDI is different than installing Molten Voltage's Pitch Limiter Control mods, which actually limit the range of the expression pedal.

    Custom Chips!

Molten Voltage programs custom chips for the Whammy 4 and for any MIDI Controlled device, including Line 6 Flextone III amps. Molten MIDI can trigger presets, unique combinations of effects, and step through effects in a particular order. Basically anything that can be done with MIDI can be done with Molten MIDI. The only limitation is the chip memory, so sequencing whole songs is not possible and not what Molten MIDI is designed to do.

Chips are easily swapped by taking the old chip out of the socket with a chip extraction tool. Molten Voltage sells them if you don't already have one. The new chip just presses in.

    Power

Molten MIDI uses a typical 9 volt, 2.1 mm, tip negative, DC power supply. Standard 5-pin MIDI cable and power supply are not included.

    Manufacturing

Like all Molten Voltage products, Molten MIDI is hand-built using only the highest quality components and craftsmanship including a genuine Hammond aluminum powder-coated enclosure, plasma laser engraving, an externally mounted steel MIDI jack, a heavy-duty pushbutton switch, and a heavy-duty rotary control. Price

At $125 MSPR, Molten MIDI is priced competitively with other American-made, hand-built "boutique" pedals. Custom Chips are $15 unless the settings are particularly complex. You can send Molten Voltage an email with your desired settings and get a firm price. Questions@MoltenVoltage.com If you order Molten MIDI without the stock chip, but with a Custom Chip instead, you save $5.

Molten MIDI is available exclusively at MoltenVoltage.com.
