Now in its first official realease, JUMP is a streamlined MIDI sequencer that takes a slightly different approach to most software by focusing on musical composition rather than audio production. Developed by game and multimedia programmer Colin Parrott, JUMP "understands" the basic rules of harmony and works directly with musical concepts like scales, chords and motifs.

New musical ideas can be explored quickly using powerful randomization functions, user-friendly editors and a highly practical arrangement system. Humanization and probability functions enable subtle variations to be applied automatically, adding expression and life to otherwise repetitive material. An export function enables compositions to be transferred from JUMP to a conventional MIDI sequencer using standard MIDI files.

JUMP requires a PC running Windows 98 or XP and a minimum of 64 MB RAM, 4 MB drive space, MIDI compatible sound and a 1024x768 colour display.

The full version of JUMP costs $125. A free demo (2 MB) can be downloaded from the Hard Note web site.
