  • Yamaha P-255 Portable Digital Piano Takes Piano Tone and Touch to Another Level with New Controller App for iOS Devices

    By HC News |

ANAHEIM (January 23, 2014) —Yamaha today introduced the new P-255 contemporary digital piano at the 2014 NAMM Show, a keyboard for experienced musicians looking for a portable, self-amplified instrument for both serious practice and live performance.

As suitable in the home as it is on stage, this powerhouse model boasts Pure CF Sampling from a Yamaha CFIIIS concert grand for its piano tone, outstanding responsive touch via Graded Hammer action and Synthetic Ivory Keytops designed for maximum comfort even during long playing sessions. The P-255 also offers the cutting-edge Live Music Toolbox with a Sound Boost button, Panel Lock mode and internal speaker On/Off control for when the player wants to use only external amplification.

When performing with a group, Sound Boost helps players cut through the mix of other musicians by compressing the dynamic range of the keyboard’s sound to raise volume output. For solo appearances, a comprehensive set of built-in rhythm patterns adds great sounding drums and percussion to any performance.

Available for free on the App Store, the new P-255 Controller app for iOS devices extends the instrument’s attractive interface by enabling musicians to quickly customize their sound, save favorite settings for instant recall and even sort and organize song content via an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Additionally, mobile devices can be connected to the mini-jack AUX input, allowing music to play through the model’s built-in speakers, or even through a connected external amplifier. The P-255 also features an internal capacity for 10 user songs and 2-track recording.

“The P-255 raises the bar for our best-selling P-Series pianos, giving players the power to shine when playing solo or in a group, as well as unprecedented operational flexibility via the P-255 Controller app,” said Dane Madsen, marketing manager, Digital Pianos, Yamaha Corporation of America. “Its lighter, more compact design enables it to be set up virtually anywhere or easily transported for performances.”

Paired with the optional L-255 matching stand and LP-255 piano-style, three-pedal unit, the P-255 provides an attractive contemporary piano appearance that doesn’t take up too much space in the home.
