Alfred Music Publishing, the official print music publisher of thousands of popular artists, is proud to announce the release of The George and Ira Gershwin Song Collection, an easy piano songbook highlighting the most memorable songs spanning the careers of George and Ira Gershwin.
The George and Ira Gershwin Song Collection includes 40 selections based on the original sheet music editions from one of the most famous and successful songwriting teams to date, arranged for easy piano, including lyrics and chord symbols. Songs such as “Summertime,” “Embraceable You,” “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off,” and “‘S Wonderful” are included from Broadway shows such as Porgy & Bess, Girl Crazy, and Funny Face, including Hollywood films like Shall We Dance, and many more. A song-by-song history with rare images of original sheet music and family photos is also included, making this a must-have not only for pianists, but Broadway and Gershwin fans as well.
The Gershwins, best-known for their Broadway works, have endured as iconic American songwriters with their music being featured in countless musicals and films, including successful forays in the classical and jazz music genres. George Gershwin notably revolutionized the music world with his 1924 piece Rhapsody in Blue by infusing classical music with American jazz flavor. After George’s untimely death in 1937, Ira Gershwin continued to write music, collaborating with music greats such as Jerome Kern, Kurt Weill, and Harold Arlen, among many others.
As part of Alfred’s ongoing commitment to improving the environment, this songbook is printed on 100% recycled paper.
The George and Ira Gershwin Song Collection (00-36776) is now available for $22.99 at music retail stores and at alfred.com/piano.
