  • PianoBar Software Update Now Available

    By Guest |

Moog Music is now shipping a significant upgrade of its PianoBar software, recommended for all PianoBars manufactured before July 7, 2004. Moog Music's PianoBar is a technology that transforms any acoustic piano into an electronic instrument. This new software simplifies and refines the calibration process of the PianoBar which improves velocity tracking, and adds two new features: Black Key Boost and Note-Off adjustment.

Both new features can be found by pressing Enter a second time from the Options page. The first is a Black Key Boost (labeled "B/W"). We have found that some pianos with oddly shaped black keys output less velocity than the corresponding white keys. With the Black Key Boost, you can boost the black key velocity so that the MIDI output is even across the black and white keys.

The Note-Off adjustment gives you the capability to adjust the point at which the MIDI Note-Off command is sent, allowing you to match the mechanical action of the damper of a given piano. It can also be used with poorly regulated pianos where the keys may stick and cause a stuck MIDI note.

The PianoBar software, priced at $35, is available either directly from Moog Music's website or from authorized Moog Music dealers.
