ENSONIQ is shipping the new ZR-76, a 76-key weighted action stage and studio keyboard. Initial reaction from dealers and customers has been overwhelmingly positive. The ZR-76 comes with ENSONIQ's new EXP-4 ROM Expander installed. This 16 meg expander features a version of the acclaimed Perfect Piano by William Coakley tailored specifically for the ZR-76. The combination of this spectacular piano sound and the ZR-76's refined piano-like action creates a truly satisfying experience that players of all levels will appreciate.

For the musician on stage, the ZR-76 user interface provides simple access to a wide array of powerful live performance features. The innovative SoundFinder provides intuitive access to the 468 ROM sounds and 751 ROM drum elements. Additionally, 12 dedicated "Favorites" buttons have been added for instant access to 18 user programmable sounds. Splits and layers are easily accomplished using the dedicated buttons, and up to 3 sound combinations can be saved as a single sound for performance or sequencing. Each of the 3 zones can play local sounds or external MIDI sources.

For the studio musician, the ZR-76 contains a 64-voice, state of the art sound engine with 14 MB of internal 16-bit wave ROM and comes standard with the 16 MB EXP-4 Perfect Piano expansion board for a total of 30 MB. With additional EXP series expansion boards, the ZR-76 can contain up to 86 MB of wave ROM.

ENSONIQ's new VLSI 24-bit digital signal processor (ESP-2) provides powerful, flexible effects processing. Dedicated buttons for global reverb, global chorus, insert effect, and FX bus routing allow effortless control during live performance.

Also of note is the ZR-76' s unique approach to sequencing. The Idea Pad, another ENSONIQ first, is always recording. The songwriting or recording process can begin by playing along with one of the professionally recorded patterns from the Drum Machine. The ideas are automatically recorded and can easily be sent to the powerful 16 Track Recorder for further editing and orchestration. Finally, sequences can be arranged and mixed quickly from the dedicated front panel buttons in the Song Editor.
