Versatile processor uses pitch and frequency shifters, filtered delays and multiple freely assignable modulators to polish sound or completely mutate tracks

Santa Cruz, CA — July 6, 2016 — Plugin Alliance proudly announces the release of a one-of-a-kind plugin designed to take productions to new and unexpected places. Fault is the latest brainchild of Unfiltered Audio, an innovative new company that's creating exciting and novel products at a blistering clip. An immediate hit with DJs, Electronic music producers and remixers, Unfiltered Audio's plugins are quickly becoming the secret weapons of mix engineers and sound designers looking to distinguish their productions and effects from the pack.
Fault's broad-based appeal lies in its dual capabilities: its powerful processors can be used sparingly to improve the quality of poorly recorded tracks or, at extreme settings, to completely transform them into something that's unrecognizable from the original.

Three main processors form the core of Fault's extensive toolkit. The stereo Frequency Shifter can be used in ring-modulator mode to add missing spectra to poorly recorded drum and percussion tracks—restoring detail and impact—or modulated by high-resolution FM controls to create beautiful and discordant sounds alike on pitched instruments. The pristine, dual-channel Pitch Shifters execute fractional-semitone to full-octave shifts—up or down—without introducing the artifacts that other pitch shifters suffer from. Two independent Delays can be synchronized to the host's tempo and use filters and discrete dual-channel or cross-channel feedback to add immersive depth.

But Fault does so much more. Six completely customizable feedback paths—three each for the Frequency Shifter and Delays—create complex textures unobtainable using other plugins. Fault also includes Unfiltered Audio's flagship modulation system, which provides six freely assignable modulators—sine LFO, sawtooth/triangle LFO, square-wave LFO, input follower, sample-and-hold noise, and a macro control knob—with drag-and-drop virtual patching to every control knob and switch in the plugin's efficient GUI. Mid-side processing adjusts the stereo image from mono to super-wide. A soft clipper and sampling-rate crusher add lo-fi character. A Dry/Wet mix control provides parallel processing, dialing in the perfect amount of effect without having to route tracks to auxes.

Of course, Fault can also create all the conventional effects you need for everyday processing, including ping-pong delays, chorus, flanging, octaver, tape recorder-style varispeed ADT effects and more. But what sets Fault apart from other plugins is its ability to create startling, new sounds that can't be ignored. A few control tweaks are all it takes to transform drum sounds into military hardware or keyboards into birdsong.

“Unfiltered Audio continues to impress with their ability to take advanced DSP technology and implement it in unconventionally powerful but totally practical sonic tools,” said Matt Ward, CEO of Plugin Alliance. “We’re always excited to see what they’ll come up with next, and Fault definitely has not disappointed.  We’re confident our customers will love it.”

"When we started development of Fault over two years ago, we set out to create the best-sounding and most flexible frequency shifter ever made", said Michael Hetrick, CEO of Unfiltered Audio. "It's undergone countless refinements on the path to its distinctive, otherworldly sound. To make it even more powerful, we've integrated a patchable modulation system of infinite flexibility and packaged it with over 100 presets that show off its deep potential. We are extremely excited to finally share Fault with the world!"

Unfiltered Audio plugins, as well as all other Plugin Alliance products, are provided in AAX native, VST and AU formats for Mac OS 10.6 or higher and Windows 7 through 10. All Plugin Alliance products are available as fully functional 14-day demos at Plugin-Alliance.com.
