(January 19th, 2017 - Oxnard, CA) Drum Workshop Inc. has announced the debut of their limited edition Collector’s Series® 45th Anniversary drumsets. To mark this auspicious occasion, the award-winning, California-based drum manufacturer enjoys the distinct honor of being the first-ever drum manufacturer to be allowed to responsibly harvest Norwegian Spruce from the famedPaneveggio Forest in Northern Italy for the purpose of manufacturing drumsets.  “Il Bosco CheSuona” (“The Singing Woods,”) is the iconic area located in the Fiemme valley at the foot of the Dolomite mountain range discovered by 17th century luthier and violin maker Antonio Stradivari and is world-renown for the most sought after “acoustic wood” in the world.

Crafted in DW’s California Custom Shop located in Oxnard, CA – each Collector’s Series® 45th Anniversary drum features a core of exceptionally resonant Norwegian Spruce with an outer layer of highly figured European Sycamore finished in a Natural-to-Candy Black Burst Lacquer Specialty finish. In addition, each drum is encircled with an intricate center inlaid band featuring the DW logo and the Roman numeral “45” crafted from meticulously laser-cut and hand-assembled exotic woods including Italian Grey Poplar, Black-Dyed Pearwood, and Blue Sapphire-Dyed Koto. The limited run of 145 drumsets will also feature a specialty 45th Anniversary DW logo badge.

“Spruce from Italy’s famed ‘Singing Woods’ has been prized for making violins and other musical instruments for centuries,” said DW Executive Vice President and Drum Designer, John Good. “Only trees grown in optimal conditions and an unchanging mountain climate have the very narrow growth rings needed to produce wood capable of transmitting pure, harmonious sound waves. We are incredibly proud to mark DW’s 45th Anniversary with these remarkable drums.”

In addition, each instrument is complemented by DW Custom Shop nickel-plated hardware and a host of drummer-friendly, professional features including True-Hoops™, True-Pitch 50™ Tuning, S.T.M (Suspension Tom Mounts), M.A.G. Throw-Off System with 3P (3 position butt plate), DW Heads by Remo U.S.A and more.  The pre-configured 6-piece set includes 8x10”, 9x12”, 12x14” and 14x16” toms, an 18x22” bass drum and 6.5x14” matching snare drum.  A signed certificate of authenticity accompanies the collectable. For more information visit www.dwdrums.com  Follow us on Facebookand Twitter
