Yamaha Drums and Nashville studio superstar Paul Leim update a legendary design with the Winter NAMM release of two signature snare drums suitable for any live or studio application.

Targeted to the professional and career drummer, the 14" x 6.5" SD-465APL (MSRP $1,049) and 14" x 5.5" SD-455APL (MSRP $999) represent a revival of the classic dark Chrome-over-Brass shells that produce a sharp attack and bright timbre. Other design highlights include one-piece Gold-plated lugs, aluminum die-cast hoops and 30-strand snares.

"People have heard me play vintage Chrome-over-Brass snare drums on multi-platinum albums for years--until now!" says Leim. "Yamaha and I have re-designed these beauties with more brightness, punch, sensitivity and versatility than anything I've ever used. They're better than the 'classics,' and they're what you'll hear me play from now on."

Leim, who has been playing Yamaha drums since 1983, has compiled a list of credits in the recording studio, live performance, television and film as one of the industry's most recorded drummers. His enviable record of more than 125 certified gold and platinum albums includes credits with Lionel Richie, Reba McEntire, Amy Grant, Shania Twain, Montgomery Gentry, Lyle Lovett and Manhattan Transfer. His motion picture credits include Dirty Dancing, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, and The River, plus numerous television credits that include The Fall Guy, Spenser for Hire, Growing Pains, the Grammy Awards and The American Music Awards.
