  • Two New Player's Design Drumstrick Models from Vater

    By Guest |

Vater introduced a pair of new drumsticks at the NAMM show, created in collaboration with David Silveria and Morgan Rose to relfect their playing style.

Designed by the drummer of Sevendust, Morgan Rose's Alien Freak is a unique model with no taper or tip, made from "dark" American Hickory (from the trees' center and denser than white hickory). Morgan's double butt-end design measures out at .610" in diameter for the full 16 inch length of the stick. Also included in Morgan's master design plan was to have no finish or lacquer on his stick. This leaves a comfortable sanded finish. The label is printed in green ink that includes Morgan's "trademark" hand-drawn alien face, signature and Sevendust logo. The Alien Freak design, weight and size gives a powerful and solid feel with a huge amount of volume from around the kit.

Morgan Rose's Alien Freak: List Price: $12.90, Length: 16", Diameter: .610"

KoRn's David Silveria designed a nylon tipped hickory stick and named it David Silveria's DSK. David's model is a lengthy, but comfortable, 17" and measures .590" (just under a 5B) in the grip. David's DSK features a very fast and beefy taper for some added weight up top. This allows for a powerful "throw" and solid impact that is perfect for an aggressive drumming style. The large and rounded barrel-shaped nylon tip is great for crispy clean hi-hat and ride cymbal tones. The logo, which includes David's hand written name and KoRn logo is printed a bit above the middle of the stick, 7" from the butt end.
