    Los Angeles, CA—August 15, 2012 - Alfred Music Publishing, home to the world’s largest percussion print music catalog, releases John Toomey's Footwork: Developing 6-Way Independence, an instructional DVD that introduces drummers to a unique playing method on drumset.

     

    John Toomey's Footwork was developed to show drummers of  any level how to play separate rhythms on each foot simultaneously.  Concepts are presented in entertaining and practical examples across 90  minutes of instruction all geared to strip away physical and mental limitations.

    The instructional compilation features: Two prepared solos; detailed  instruction on footwork, independence, and how to obtain a higher level  of dexterity; rudimentary “builder” exercises based on John's very own  foot technique; in-studio play-alongs that showcase the application of layered patterns with the feet; improvised drum  solos, and much more.

    Professional drummer, clinician, and author, John Toomey, studied under  John Papastefan, the highly esteemed Director of Percussion at the  University of South Alabama and studied jazz and classical styles at  Loyola University in New Orleans. He finished his degree in Commercial Music Performance and Music Business at Belmont  University. Currently, John performs and tour manages Warner Bros.  recording artist, Jason Jones, and also performs and records with  four-time smooth jazz Grammy® nominee, Denny Jiosa.
