John Toomey’s Footwork Drumset Instruction DVD Distributed by Alfred Music Publishing
By Guest |
John Toomey's Footwork was developed to show drummers of any level how to play separate rhythms on each foot simultaneously. Concepts are presented in entertaining and practical examples across 90 minutes of instruction all geared to strip away physical and mental limitations.
The instructional compilation features: Two prepared solos; detailed instruction on footwork, independence, and how to obtain a higher level of dexterity; rudimentary “builder” exercises based on John's very own foot technique; in-studio play-alongs that showcase the application of layered patterns with the feet; improvised drum solos, and much more.
Bonus features include an unedited interview with Johnny Rabb and John Toomey, as well as concert footage of John performing and soloing.
Professional drummer, clinician, and author, John Toomey, studied under John Papastefan, the highly esteemed Director of Percussion at the University of South Alabama and studied jazz and classical styles at Loyola University in New Orleans. He finished his degree in Commercial Music Performance and Music Business at Belmont University. Currently, John performs and tour manages Warner Bros. recording artist, Jason Jones, and also performs and records with four-time smooth jazz Grammy® nominee, Denny Jiosa.
