  • Gear4music Brings Professional XM Electronic Drums to the UK Market

    By Guest |

Leading musical instrument retailer Gear4music.com has announced it is bringing XM Electronic Drum Kits to the UK market. The XMT-5SR, XM-7S and XM-8SR have each been designed to play and feel just like an acoustic kit. From the use of real wooden drum shells, to the tension adjustable mesh heads, XM kits have the unmistakeable look of acoustic drums but with the versatility of an electronic kit.

High resolution sampling and multi-zone mesh pads across the range mean that these drums not only look like but also sound like acoustic drums. Multiple triggers across all drum heads (3 on the XM-7S and XM-8SR; 2 on the XMT-5SR) and dual triggers on all cymbals provide an unparalleled level of articulation and responsiveness. Each mesh head is velocity sensitive, whilst the crash is fully chokable. With 70 sampled voices on board the XMT-5SR and 119 voices on the XM-7S and XM-8SR, the XM kits provide an impressive level of drum realism and expressivity. Hooking a kit up to a computer via the built-in MIDI In / Out provides access to even more features. Software such as Superior Drummer allows musicians to take advantage of thousands of ultra-realistic drum sounds, as well as record MIDI drum patterns that are fully customisable.

XM electronic kits are ideal for practice, but also feature the quality sound and feel necessary for studio work, as well as the sturdiness to withstand the rigours of live performance. All pads are attached to a solid, durable rack that’s easily adapted to suit the drummer’s preferred setup. Unlike the majority of electronic kits, the XM series features a bass drum attached to the rack. This means that however hard the drummer plays, the kick drum will not move out of place. In addition, the inclusion of two outputs allows for monitoring of the drums and metronome through headphones, while at the same time a separate main drum output can be taken – ideal for performers where timing is central to their sound.

Jonathan Meager, Marketing Manager at Gear4music.com, said “as soon as we tried out the XM electronic kits we were incredibly impressed.  Real wood drum shells and tension adjustable drum heads give every kit in the range the look and feel of an acoustic set, but with the wealth of sounds and flexibility you expect from leading electronic kits. Every drummer I’ve met who’s played the XMT-5SR, XM-7S and XM-8SR has been taken aback by the realism and versatility of the kits, especially given the price point.”

UK RRP for the XMT-5SR is £699.00, XM-7S is £849.00 and the XM-8SR, £1,099.00. Each kit comes as standard with the Gear4music one year warranty, which can be upgraded to a 5 year warranty for a small extra cost.
