By Guest |
Berkleemusic.com, the online school of Boston's renowned Berklee College
of Music, is debuting four new online drum courses for their upcoming
spring term, beginning April 4th, 2011. With these courses, students from
anywhere in the world will be able to learn the skills to become effective,
expressive, drummers, as well as the specific skill set to excel in the
styles of rock, funk, R&B, and Afro-Cuban drums.
"For the first time in history, aspiring drummers can take college-level,
accredited drum set courses with the world-class faculty who teach here at
Berklee in Boston," said Debbie Cavalier, Dean of Continuing Education.
"We've spent several years developing the best possible way to present drum
curriculum online, and I think students are going to be really impressed
with the results. These online drum courses are filled with innovative
educational content, from lessons honed from years of professional live
performance to the transcription and analysis of drum parts that have shaped
contemporary music. Through video-based assignments, faculty will be able to
seamlessly evaluate students' playing technique."
The four courses being debuted in Berkleemusic's new online drum curriculum
are Drum Set Fundamentals, Rock Drums, Funk/R&B Drums, and Afro-Cuban Drums.
These performance-focused courses are authored by renowned Berklee College
of Music faculty members including Yoron Israel (whose album Basic Traneing
reached number 3 on the National Jazz chart), Rod Morgenstein (founding
member of the Dixie Dregs and original member of Winger), Mark Walker
(Grammy award-winning drummer and percussionist, author of "World Jazz
Drumming") as well as the "Buddy Rich or Billy Cobham of funk drumming"
(Jazz Times) Jim Payne.
