Alfred Music Publishing, the leader in educational music publishing since 1922 and
home to the world’s largest percussion print music catalog, is now distributing
Danny Seraphine: The Art of Jazz Rock Drumming, a DVD on classic Seraphine drum
fills and grooves, from Drum Channel.
Danny Seraphine: The Art of Jazz Rock Drumming is an autobiographical look into the
life and legacy of Danny Seraphine, drummer and founding member of the Grammy®
award-winning rock group Chicago. A sure collector’s item for the fan and music
lover, Seraphine shares with intimate detail his humble beginnings, back stories of
Chicago Transit Authority, and a drummer’s walkthrough with performances featuring
the classic fills and grooves by the man who created them.
Danny Seraphine is known as the pioneer of the jazz rock drumming style who
co-founded the rock group Chicago Transit Authority in the late 60’s. Their
self-titled debut album was released the following year, featuring a unique blend of
jazz-tinged instrumentals, extended jam sections, and Seraphine’s signature drumming
style—all together serving as the catalyst to platinum sales status and heavy radio
airplay during the group’s early years.
Special features in the two-DVD set include an interview hosted by Terry Bozzio,
drum jam with Seraphine and Bozzio, and downloadable drum notation excerpts
outlining grooves to songs such as “25 or 6 to 4,” and “I’m a Man.” As bonus, four
MP3 audio files minus drums are included for play-along with the new CTA (California
Transit Authority).
