KMC MUSIC DEBUTS NATAL CAFÉ RACER AT SUMMER NAMM 2017

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, July 14, 2017 — Building upon the UK and European market success of the Natal Café Racer, KMC Music, the industry-leading value added distributor of Musical Instruments, Pro Audio, and Band & Orchestra products, today announced the immediate United States market availability of the product that has become the “buzzkit” of the entire drum community. The introduction of the Natal Café Racer was made at Summer NAMM 2017 in Booth #1143 by KMC Vice President of Merchandising Roger Hart.

“The Natal Café Racer has created nothing short of a market sensation,” Hart said today, “and we are thrilled to bring this first of its kind drum set to our U.S. customers, many of whom will immediately appreciate the unique design and playability of the drum set. We expect the Café Racer to be a huge hit with dealers during the upcoming holiday sales season so we urge them to plan their inventory now.”

Natal’s Café Racer is the industry’s first tulipwood production drum set. The Café Racer is a six-ply tulipwood shell that produces a warm buttery tone that has a wide tuning range and excellent projection without harsh overtones. Café Racer kits are available in three sparkle lacquer finishes — British Racing Green, Champagne Sparkle, Red Sparkle with Gray Sparkle Stripe. Café Racer is also available in three new ‘Hot Rod’ suede lacquer finishes — Seafoam Green, Oxblood Red, and Matte Black. Café Racer is available in two configurations and can be custom ordered with drums between 8” and 26.” Café Racer is on tour this summer with JD McPherson’s Jason Smay and on X’s 40th anniversary tour with the legendary DJ Bonebrake!

The origin of Natal dates back to 1958 when distinguished British percussionist Alan Sharp created his own line of custom assembled instruments. His original Afro-Cuban bongos were of such high quality that orders from other percussionists poured in. The Natal Percussion Company was formed in 1965 as a result of the increasing demand for instruments designed by Sharp. The ensuing fiberglass congas enjoyed a huge success and became the percussion of choice by artists that included Santana, T. Rex, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Deep Purple, and the Rolling Stones. Alan Sharp’s design legacy continues to influence Natal’s current design team, who have have produced a stunning range of drums, snare drums and hardware. Every part and component is designed from the ground up. Natal is committed to producing drums and hardware of the highest standard of quality. As well as being British designed, Natal drums and hardware are British quality controlled.
