Yamaha Corporation of America, Guitar Products, answers the request for a cost-effective, 4-string electric bass that emulates the distinctive sound of the 1980's with the introduction of the BB1000MA at Summer NAMM 2001. Recalling the classic look and sound of the venerable Yamaha BB3000Sand the recently-introduced BB3000MA signature Michael Anthony (Van Halen) modelthe BB1000MA is the ideal choice for the working musician, versatile enough to be used for styles ranging from country to heavy rock, and delivery slated for September.

"Dealers and consumers have been requesting an electric bass with this feature set and price point for some time," states David Bergstrom, marketing manager, Combo Group, Pro Audio & Combo Division. "The BB1000MA provides that combination, and we believe it will be one of Yamaha's most successful products."

An updated, original bolt-on neck design features a streamlined body style, plus a fast, thin Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard for improved access to the upper register. The headstock features a "4-in-line" tuner design and durable chrome hardware. Passive electronics and P/J format Alnico V pickups produce a tone that can handle a wide variety of musical and playing styles. Aesthetic features include a die-cast chrome bridge, unique red position markers, Black Metallic and Green Metallic finishes.

"The BB1000MA brings back the concept of the Yamaha BB3000S," states Gary Cook, Guitar product manager. "Bass players can now enjoy this updated version with its classic sound and appearance, plus the features of a similar, more expensive model."
