Yamaha Four- and Five-String Studio Acoustic Body Silent Violins Now Shipping

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, are happy to announce that the SV-250 4-string and SV-255 5-string Acoustic-body Silent violins debuted at Winter NAMM 2010 are now shipping.

Traditional string spacing on both the 4- and 5-string models allow the player to move as naturally as they do one their acoustic violin. Designed to meet the needs of the professional performer playing diverse styles, the new violins establish a new benchmark for sound quality and player comfort; they offer the electric violin performer a natural feeling instrument. By taking the electronic components out of the body of the instrument, Yamaha was able to reduce the weight of the instrument to that of a typical acoustic violin. The innovative pick-up design allows the player to blend the tone quality from an edgy electric to a rich acoustic sound. An external control box contains a powerful pre-amp, master volume control, treble, and bass tone controls, as well as quarter-inch and XLR balanced outputs.

Both models are crafted from seasoned flamed maple, with aged spruce tops and fit with ebony pegs, fingerboard and chinrest, allowing for normal instrument maintenance by any skilled violin luthier.

Backed by Yamaha’s limited five-year warranty, professional players are guaranteed an instrument that promises to stand up to the rigors of everyday use.
