1. Dunno why, but when I saw this bass on craigslist locally for a pretty good price, I decided I had to buy it. Rickenbacker 4003AC. At first glance, it looks pretty similar to my Ric 4003W. Maple neck and fretboard, neck-through body. A closer look reveals some differences. No body binding, but that's the same as the 4003SW. Green triangle inlays on the fretboard. Not one, but two Rickenbacker bridge pickups. The neck pickup is a lot farther away from the neck than is usal for Rics, and the bridge pickup closer to the bridge, similar to a Fender Jazz bass or a Ric 4002. There's a thumbrest up near the neck. The AC designation stands for Al Cisneros. Apparently he's a big deal in some circles; He plays bass for Sleep and Om. His style is to play up near the neck, hence the thumbrest there. Also why the pickup covers wouldn't bother him. For the rest of us, it comes with pickup bezels. You take off the covers and install the bezels in their place, making it possible to play over the pickups. The bezels also provide alternative thumbrests. I'm looking forward to plugging it into my amps and hearing how it differs from more conventional Rics. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Rickenbacker/4003AC-Al-Cisneros-Limited-Edition-Bass.gc

 2. I've run a Paul Norman carbon fiber biscuit in my Duolian since 2009. Lighter than maple, intonation is fine for the combination slide/fretted play. Paul has sold a variety of compensated saddles for at least that long. My tricone has a normal Tee bridge, my spider has a spider bridge.

 4. Getting back to the NEW poster’s thing, which is sort of a recurring theme of 8 year old posts, but not much going on anyway... we all like to tweak stuff. Brass? I guess it would have an effect, and boredom could probably turn folks into experimenters. Im still trying to wrap my head around a $35.00 pick though. The Blue Chip, that’s a tweak! I tweaked a guitar this week with dadarrio XT strings this weekend! What a huge difference, well, the replaced set was over a year old. Chris 72, follow up? You’re not going to just LEAVE, are you?!

 5. Yay Fucking amazing, melodic and up there with anything produced in the last 50 years. That solo caused major issues , Google it. Fuck it, I'm gonna edit it some more! I bought a 335 on the back of that solo after watching it being performed live at Earls Court back in the 70's. I turned off my Budgie Album ( mid-Breadfan ) and got taken to a better place by a solo in a fricking skinny bird band Heres is the footage that turned me on
