  1. I'm glad I asked, I guess I'll spring for the Volto, thanks!

  2. SOURCE > > > preamp/mixer > > > power amp > > > speaker You can buy a powered cabinet which simply combines the last two or three items in that chain. These will usually be called some kind of "powered" monitor or speaker. This might be your best entry level option. About the only instances when these devices aren't referred to separately is when speaking of guitar amps. Those come with pre and power amps integrated on the same chassis. The speakers can come in the same cabinet as the electronics; called a combo amp, or electronics and speakers in separate

  3. A mixer only has a preamp. You need a power amp to drive speakers. A Typical Hi Fi has both a preamp and power amp built in together until you get into the more professional stuff where the preamp and power amp were often separate units. In PA gear you typically have 3 different setups. 1. Powered mixers that also contain the power amp to drive speakers. These are typically used by bands that do their own sound and the compact designs make transport and setup easier. 2. Separate mixer and power amps. These setups allow a snake to be used between the mixer out in front of the st

  4. Unless you have speakers with a power amplifier built in, you will need a separate external amplifier. For DJ applications you want a PA amplifier. The speakers in your link require a separate external amplifier. This is what popped up when I searched for "Gemini Mix2Go DJ turntable" http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gemini/MIX2GO-PRO-Portable-DJ-Mixer-with-Built-in-Speakers-and-LED-Light-Show-1500000024007.gc?cntry=us&source=4WWRWXGP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIg6nLqOTD2QIVQ0wNCh1CUgFZEAQYASABEgKj9vD_BwE&kwid=productads-adid^172488555108-device^c-plaid^137769556842-sku^1500000024007@ADL4GC-

  5. That actually sounds pretty cool, p90s would be really rad. I’m looking for one at the moment. I should probably just buy a 335 that’s somewhat cheap and put p90’s

  6. Cool. I'd like to take the Gibson or Martin tour (acoustic guy) some day. 60 guitars a day at 5 days a week at 52 weeks a year at $1000 average per guitar is $15,600,000 retail.

  7. That's cool info about how they operate though - having 2 Plek machines is a surprise.

  8. I have a couple of ES guitars made in Memphis. They did a super job on them. My other Gibson came from Nashville, and I have 2 acoustics made in the Bozeman Plant, as well as a Flatiron mandolin. The other mandolin was made in Nashville.

  11. To be fair I can see how pick holders might impact on the tone of a banjo (as well as killing the sustain)

  12. Big companies diversify for a lot of reasons, but one important reason is to protect the company from market swings that hurt one particular line. So guitars sales are down, but you've still got other divisions that are not as effected by the fads and fashions and economic swings that are currently plaguing another line. Also, there's the halo effect, we all see it all the time. If you've built a brand that the public associates with quality, or even just with coolness, and you stick that brand on some new line, you sell the new line on the reputation of the old line. And then th

  13. Have you tried any of the PRS amps? Even at the lower end of their lineup, they're really good IMO. Maybe I'm naive, but even in a saturated market or during challenging times, I like to think there will always be a place for the exceptional and the outstanding.

  14. since i was little i was always interested how things work, i love to look at things inside no matter what they are. amps, efx, guitars, bikes, cars, ships, elevators, trains, ball point pens, watches, computers, machines in factories, nearly anything so i see in anything the beauty, if its a robot build pcb, i see the craftsmanship behind building such a "robot" yes some things are nicer than others and i admire handmade stuff as specially, but not only the craft, but also the creative process how things can be built in general and i love gutshots of anything
