Members fracturepoint Posted September 21, 2008 Members Posted September 21, 2008 LOL!!!!! here it comes: Hello again. Here is the deal. I signed a distribution deal with Universal Records Distribution. I have access to self-space for all of the in-store retailers. Right now the store that actively sells the most product for independent artists is Best Buys. So here is the deal. I will put your CD’s in Best Buys. Actually I will put them in 3 Best Buys in any 1 City (I would suggest the City you live in so you can help push the CD). So there are two possibilities. If you already have your CD shrink wrapped, bar coded, artwork done and duplicated (500 copies), I will put you in the stores for $2,800. Shelf space in the stores cost more than that, but I will put a little investment behind you also. If you do not already have these things, I will put you in the stores for $5,600. That will include professional artwork design, shrink wrapped and bar coded. In addition I will send you 500 copies for you to distribute and I will make 500 copies to put in the Best Buy stores. Of the First 500 that I put in the stores, you will not receive any money from the sales. Those sales will go towards reimbursing me for the investment I made in shelf space and limited advertisement on your product. After those 500 sell (in a timely manner) I will make another 500 copies to put in stores. From there you will receive royalty checks every time a unit is sold. If sales are going well, I will put it in more stores around the Country. I will pay all fees to put them in the stores, and will not charge you any reimbursement fees when the units are sold. I will make an investment in you if you are willing to invest in yourselves. Your CD’s will not only be sold in stores, but you will also be featured on Universal Record Distribution’s Website (www. urdbest. com). All in all, if you are really trying to get your work out there, I can get you started. If units sell in Best Buys, you will be able to take those numbers and go to any major distributor and get a deal. One step closer. Members KidAircrash Posted September 22, 2008 Members Posted September 22, 2008 you mean for only $5,600 I can get 500 copies of my work in best buy for someone else to make money off of? Sweet deal
Members soundwave106 Posted September 22, 2008 Members Posted September 22, 2008 The $2800 alone for a 500 CD duplication job is laughable. Their star resume is two very indie horror films, only one with any IMDB ratings (18 votes, 2 stars out of 10). An additional $2800 buys you access to this popularity. Har.
Members oenso Posted September 22, 2008 Members Posted September 22, 2008 I'd love to say that was too stupid to be real...
Members ermghoti II Posted September 22, 2008 Members Posted September 22, 2008 So here is the deal. I will put your CD’s in Best Buys. Actually I will put them in 3 Best Buys in any 1 City So, he throws a case of CDs through the front door, and runs away?
Members BlueStrat Posted September 22, 2008 Members Posted September 22, 2008 You can go to just about any Walden, Borders or Hastings store and put them in yourself by just talking to the music manager. They will usually take 4 bucks per CD while you get the 7-8 depending on what you want to charge. Screw Best Buy and screw anyone who would charge you that kind of money.
Members pjrake Posted September 22, 2008 Members Posted September 22, 2008 wow, so i can get my CD shrink wrapped, with a bar code and a pro design... and then 500 copies, all for the low price of $2800? where do i sign up!!! -PJ
Members gtrbass Posted September 22, 2008 Members Posted September 22, 2008 I'm so impressed with a 'distro offer' from a guy who has a youtube account and a myspace page... This is an outright fraud. BTW: Universal Records Distribution (www. urdbest.com) is completely bogus. Assclown is trying to make it sound like he has some sort of business arrangement with Universal Music Group's distribution division. Sorry, Charlie... no you don't.
Members sabriel9v Posted September 23, 2008 Members Posted September 23, 2008 There are so many crooks in this industry.
Members Cygnus64 Posted September 23, 2008 Members Posted September 23, 2008 The $2800 alone for a 500 CD duplication job is laughable. Actually it's $5600. I like putting in little words and phrases so the search engines find this thread if someone is googling the company: Grey Ghost Films fraud Grey Ghost Films ripoff Grey Ghost Films con artists
Members CLOCK13 Posted September 23, 2008 Members Posted September 23, 2008 So, he throws a case of CDs through the front door, and runs away? The people will pour into that store like crazy to buy the cd's.
Members primeelite Posted September 23, 2008 Members Posted September 23, 2008 Yep distro is one of the easiest ways to rip people off. Sad thing is if he would have lowered it to around $3000 he would probably get a few people a year with it. So many people out there are desperate.

Members primeelite Posted September 24, 2008 Members Posted September 24, 2008 because no one reports them or pursues it because you put one small time guy away and then 5 pop up to take his place to rip off desperate or naive musicians.
Members BlueStrat Posted September 24, 2008 Members Posted September 24, 2008 Why are these people not locked up? For what? Offering his services at any price he chooses and waiting for a moron to take it?
Members MetalMilitia833 Posted September 26, 2008 Members Posted September 26, 2008 Elliot Eddie....even the name sounds fake.
Members boxorox Posted September 28, 2008 Members Posted September 28, 2008 Did anyone else notice he's charging you twice for the same thing? If your product is all ready for retail with the shrink wrap, bar code (wouldn't the store determine the BC in/re it's stocking procedures?), etc, he can get it in for $2800, the cost of shelf space. Then he says you will also recieve no profit from sales, as shelf space is so expensive. But WAIT!!! There's more! Will he be coming by to borrow gas money because shelf space is so expensive? Will he be moving into your basement with his pregnant girlfriend because shelf space is so expensive? Probably. Dear God, why aren't we allowed to shoot people like this? At least run them out of town on a rail, a simple tarring and feathering would salve my mind. And we could sell tickets to that. Might just cover our shelf space fees.
Members CLOCK13 Posted September 30, 2008 Members Posted September 30, 2008 For what? Offering his services at any price he chooses and waiting for a moron to take it? So why do you not use your music business knowledge to make the same offers he does?
Members BlueStrat Posted September 30, 2008 Members Posted September 30, 2008 So why do you not use your music business knowledge to make the same offers he does? Because some of us still live by a code of ethics. I, like lots of people, have a lot of different skills I could I could use to bilk people out of money if I wanted to. But I like to sleep at night.
Members Koflan Posted October 22, 2008 Members Posted October 22, 2008 And just think, you pay the 5 grand for 500cds in the stores, you sell all of them, and you make back $200 of it! That's TWO HUNDRED BUCKS! Cash money! Just forget about the five grand though.
