Members Saturday
i thought to add a middle, single coil pickup to my SG copy. i play jangly rythm stuff and sometimes i feel thati really lack that soudn with the twin humbuckers.so, what is the best method to configure the electronics?i'm not convinced with the standard sg custom method of the "middle pickup active all the time with a volume knob". i also thought about just using a switch that turns it on / off, full volume. so you turn it on, drop the volume of one othe other pickups and you're set.i don't like the idea of adding a 5-way switch.. would look too weird on the sg and i like the 3-way switch.thoughts? Members Burgess
If it were me I would simply wire the existing pickups series/parallel with a couple of push/pull pots. Well, that's if the existing pickups were of the four wire variety. If not I'd buy a pair of nice Duncans before I took a router to my SG.

Members Saturday
no. it's a sg copy. it's cheap. i don't care about routing it. i want a real single coil on it, not a tapped humbucker.
Members Ferdinandstrat
A single coil, yes I would. I think it would be practical and classy all at the same time.
Members jgk62
I wanted the same thing but did it by getting a 3-pickup SG and replacing the middle pickup with a Dream 90.
