Ibanez Artstar AS80 or Washburn HB-35?

IIRC, you just have to check on the factory of origin when choosing an early Artstar. I think they were originally made by Samick and did not use the Super 58s that were subsequently built into the Cort factory models.

Or it might be the other way around.

Anyway, definitely look into it before you decide. You'll find good information over at the ICW forum.

They have quite different necks, at least the ones (my Washburn was a HB30 which is the HB35 without the bling) I owned did. I bought both with aftermarket pups installed so I can't comment on those. I no longer own them.

The Artstar AS80 had a beefier and a more V profile feel to it, whereas the HB30 felt slimmer.

For what it's worth, I liked the HB30 better. The good news is that you can't go wrong with either guitar. They are one of the better budget 335 style models.
