Members sabriel9v Posted August 28, 2008 Members Posted August 28, 2008 Why do I feel this man should have been given a medal instead of handcuffs? It's about damn time "Chinese Democracy" came out anyway. http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/145014-guns-n-roses-leaker-dude-arrested-by-feds
Members BlueStrat Posted August 28, 2008 Members Posted August 28, 2008 Too bad the FBI didn't arrest GnR for making another record into a long drawn out drama.
Members bdemon Posted August 28, 2008 Members Posted August 28, 2008 Why do you see the blogger as a hero? Because Axel Rose is a prick who's been treating his fans (and the countless players who've worked on the new album) like crap in making fifteen years of false promises? In the end it's *his* album to release when he wants. No one's entitled to it. And most assholes are going to steal it off Limewire anyway, claiming they wouldn't have bought it anyway. Lame...

In the end it's *his* album to release when he wants. No one's entitled to it. This is true. But let's face it. Axl Rose is not going to release some groundbreaking and masterpiece album. The whole concept of "Chinese democracy" is that it's a hollow shell, an empty pinata with no real treats for music fans...kinda like "democracy" within the PRC. Wait, I get it Maybe Axl is a genius after all
Moderators daddymack Posted August 28, 2008 Moderators Posted August 28, 2008 the fact that this was even considered 'newsworthy' smells like a cheap promotional ploy....I'm just sayin'...
Members TotalPoser Posted August 28, 2008 Members Posted August 28, 2008 Does anyone really honestly care about "Chinese Democracy" at this point? "Chinese Democracy: Coming Soon!" has almost become as big a cliche as shouting "Free Bird" at a cover band's show.
Members veracohr Posted August 29, 2008 Members Posted August 29, 2008 Wow, am I the only one who thinks that arrest for copyright infringement is more than a little on the side of overkill?
Members ermghoti II Posted August 29, 2008 Members Posted August 29, 2008 What comes out first, Chinese Democracy, or Duke Nukem 3?
Members sabriel9v Posted August 29, 2008 Author Members Posted August 29, 2008 What comes out first, Chinese Democracy, or Duke Nukem 3? I don't know...but it's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum...and I'm all out of gum
Members directoryxd Posted August 29, 2008 Members Posted August 29, 2008 If he did wrong he have to Punish....
Members moondust Posted August 29, 2008 Members Posted August 29, 2008 Those songs weren't that great, I bet Axel got pissed off when it was released and nobody liked it.
Members modeerf Posted August 29, 2008 Members Posted August 29, 2008 never heard the leaked tracks but, I'm sure he did get busted because this has been the most long awaited album in the history of {censored}ing rock. I think Axl will do anything so this album won't get released. I'm sure it sounds dated as hell by now anyway. I know he was recruiting the likes of industrial producers for electronic projects, which aren't exectly groundbreaking at this point. Axl has made himself a punchline. By letting everyones perception of his greatness go to his head and render him immobile musically, never being able to live up to his hype. Grow the {censored} up and just realize you're no better than anyone else, i don't give a {censored} about what you have to offer.
Members soundwave106 Posted August 29, 2008 Members Posted August 29, 2008 Those songs weren't that great, I bet Axel got pissed off when it was released and nobody liked it. Meanwhile, almost all of the *rest* of GNR continues to make music (under the Velvet Revolver guise at present) that still does pretty decently. Heh. Lead singers. I seriously doubt Chinese Democracy is a modern Smile, anyways.
Members chevybusa Posted August 29, 2008 Members Posted August 29, 2008 You guys all make good points...I'm just surprised that with everything else the FBI has on their plate to deal with that they would devote the resources to this!
Members Music Calgary Posted August 30, 2008 Members Posted August 30, 2008 let's face it. Axl Rose is not going to release some groundbreaking and masterpiece album. I heard one of the tracks and I thought is was excellent actually. Certainly groundbreaking for him. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed. No doubt you'd find no lack of complaints though...

Members Music Calgary Posted August 30, 2008 Members Posted August 30, 2008 I don't like Axl Rose. You've never heard the cut, never interacted with the man *in any way*, and you know practically nothing meaningful about him -- but you dislike him? Intense. That and 50 cents will get you a steaming hot cup of jack-squat. Enjoy it. Geffen isn't losing any sleep.

Intense. That and 50 cents will get you a steaming hot cup of jack-squat. Enjoy it. Geffen isn't losing any sleep. I was around the first time GnR came out-in fact, I lived in LA when they were a bar band playing the Whiskey and other clubs around LA and the Valley before they broke. I don't remember anyone who didn't think Axl was a first class douchebag. Storming off stage in the middle or shows, picking fights with audience members, showing up so drunk he couldn't hardly speak let alone sing, threatening other bandmates with violence and having to finish tours with a second tour bus all to himself because no one else would ride with him are just a few things that make him a twat. BTW, Slash is no prize, either, but at least he has some talent which is more than I can say for Axl. Your mileage may vary, as always.
Members Music Calgary Posted August 30, 2008 Members Posted August 30, 2008 BTW, Slash is no prize, either, Slash is undoubtedly shattered to hear you say that...
Members BlueStrat Posted August 31, 2008 Members Posted August 31, 2008 Slash is undoubtedly shattered to hear you say that... Slash and I have an agreement: He doesn't give a rat's ass about what I think and I don't give a rat's ass about what he thinks.

My Pyschology degree is not from a reputable school, but I believe that Axl Rose is a fradey cat. Yes, I said it!! Axl,Dumb ass, It's just music. Put the album out! If people don't like it, then guess what...you go home and you write 10 freaking new songs and then you put those out. This is narsicistic paranoid lunacy at a Bellview, Code Red, lock down the elevators level. Put the damn album out already,W.A.Rose. You aren't Brian Wilson.

Members sabriel9v Posted September 1, 2008 Author Members Posted September 1, 2008 If people don't like it, then guess what...you go home and you write 10 freaking new songs and then you put those out. +500 However, I will say I feel it's okay if the guy who leaked the tracks is given a small slap on the wrist in the form of a fine. He did leak someone else's songs and work after all. It wasn't his to upload online. But I read the follow up article: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/145087-guns-n-roses-slash-react-to-arrest-of-chinese-leaker The guy is facing three years in prison and a $250,000 fine Plus his bail was $10,000. Personally, I think his overall fine should have been $10,000. If anything, he probably leaked the tracks because he loves GnRs music and wants to expose more people to it. Give the man a fine and move on...no one should have to worry about prison time because they leaked some music tracks.
