Members UstadKhanAli
You might know who he is. I'm photographing him this weekend. Un-be-liev-able. I'm not goin' all Anton Corbin on him. It's gonna be a lightning-fast thing during a press conference for "It Might Get Loud" where we get rushed through. But I get to do it, thanks to my journalist friend who also does The Tibet Connection radio show!!!!!!! BTW, I also saw a screening of the movie. Highly recommended. It had some really cool moments, like Jimmy Page taking out records from his collection at home, putting on a Link Wray record, and air guitaring it with a huge appreciative smile on his face. Or Jimmy Page, The Edge, and Jack White jamming on "In My Time of Dying". I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Members Jeff da Weasel
Whoooooooooo!!! I just realized that the official Zak Claxton photographer will have Jimmi Page shots in his portfolio. I mean, that has to count for something, don't you think? Mojo via proxy? One degree of separation? This is good. This is very good.
Members UstadKhanAli
It's really good. Really good. I have a few photos, not many. Flea performing, playing the trumpet with the Cal Tech band. Nels Cline. Yes, I even have a photo of Craig Anderton playing guitar. And after this weekend, Jimmy Page!!!!!!! Basically, from what I understand, they're gonna rush us through, so I'll maybe have ten seconds to snap photos of JP, JW, and the director posing together, so the photos won't be gorgeous. But who cares? I'm photographing Jimmy Page. I'm very appreciative of my journalist friend. She's done me a huuuuuge favor here. And I'd have to say that this little D-SLR has really done a lot for me. James Patrick Page. Wow. I've come a long way from when I was a little kid, walking home, and heard Led Zeppelin wafting from someone's windows, their stereo playing. I stopped in my tracks, listening to the entire song. It was "Stairway to Heaven". I've come a long way from when my friend saved up his paper route money to buy "Physical Graffiti". We were on sixth grade. He put on the first side, and four of us sat perfectly still for the entire side, not saying a word. This is the guy that I get to photograph. Wow. Freakin' wow. Members Richard King
Sounds like great fun. I got to shoot some Brian Wilson pix a couple of years ago when he performed at the CES Show. I posted one of them to his Wikipedia page and it's still there after about a year. If you get some good shots you should do the same on the Jimmy Page Wiki page. Here's Brian: http://www.pbase.com/rking401/brian_wilson&page=alland here's Joan Jett shot the same day: http://www.pbase.com/rking401/joan_jett_and_the_blackhearts&page=allA good time was had by all, including me. Members UstadKhanAli
Gentlefolk, I most certainly will share photos with you! They'll be taken super fast, so they'll basically look like snapshots, but nevertheless....it's Jimmy Page. Jimmy Freakin' Page. Or did I say that already? Members Jeff da Weasel
You're a pretty fast photographer, though. I think you'll bring something cool to these pics despite the photojournalist conditions.

Members Kendrix
Ken , This is very cool indeed. Try not to drool or stutter I'll bet you'll manage to capture at least one really great shot. Say hello to my old buddy will ya? ( I shook his hand during a concert in MSG in 1970- Im sure he will remember- I sure do.)

In the film, he came across really nice, very interesting. I mentioned this already, but seeing Jimmy Page as a FAN, playing air guitar and strumming enthusiastically air guitar style to Link Wray was absolutely precious, one of the best scenes in the film. Here's two other observations from the movie about JP: -He looks healthy and happy and lucid -He came across as almost aristocratic at times (not in a pompous way, but in a gracious way)

Members Jeff da Weasel
(do NAMM photos count?)? No! NAMM photos are for tourist losers. Er, I mean, NAMM photos are for fun and memorabilia of the fine individuals who visit the show. This is professional work here, man, not Fan Fotos! Get focused! You think Kobe felt the NBA Finals were like a game of h-o-r-s-e in the driveway??? I expect your finest performance out there in your 10 seconds with Zoso! Now get out there and shoot! And no more of this NAMM talk. Sheesh.

Right after I shot the photo of Stevie above, one of the security detail shouted at me, "NO FLASH!!!!!" Now, think about that a second....

Members PBBPaul
About ten years ago, I was in Miami for a business meeting. We finished early and decided to try standby for an earlier flight back to Wisconsin with a stop in Detroit. We got to the airport early and our gate was at the end of the terminal. The area was pretty empty. As we sat waiting in the little bar, I saw this older guy with long hair, cutoff jeans and a tie-dyed shirt coming our way. "That guy looks like Robert Plant" I joked. About 10 feet behind him was obviously Jimmy Page. Behind him was an entourage of about 6 people. My jaw dropped. I started panting as they walked into the bar and sat at the next table. One of my cohorts struck up a conversation. They welcomed us into their group and we ordered more beer and a plate of nachos. Robert Plant was very funny and conversational. Jimmy Page didn't say much but was very nice and polite. I was in a conversation with Robert and said something like "I congratulate and admire you - your band was a huge influence on my taking up the guitar as a kid. In fact you've all achieved a legendary status in music and almost single-handedly created a whole genre. With all of your success, I have to ask; what are doing on a Northwest flight to Detroit?" Robert started laughing and said "I know what you mean mate but it was the only flight we could get!" He told me that they were just coming back from a brief mid-tour vacation in the Caribbean. Jimmy had stayed in Costa Rica and Robert had stayed in Cuba. They were playing in Detroit that night. I've never been much of a fanboy but that day I asked for and received the only autograph I own - Jimmy Page's. It hangs proudly framed in my studio. Ken, take some good pictures and shake his hand if you can. Jimmy Page is very humble and dignified. A real legend and a real class act. I only wish I'd have taken a picture or two. I have a great memory of that afternoon. As an epilogue to my little story... We ate our nachos and drank a couple of pitchers of beer before they called our flight. Robert and Jimmy boarded first class. I managed to get the very last empty seat in the very last row. I boarded and sat down next to their tour manager. Members UstadKhanAli
That's a cool story. That photo of Ronnie James Dio....a similar cool experience. I sat next to him on a plane flight from LA to Philadelphia last summer. He is the coolest guy, super gracious, intelligent, insightful, tells great stories. A seriously great guy. Members PBBPaul
That's cool. Of all the famous folk I've been in contact with over the years, JP & RP were among the coolest. The most humbling and inspirational though has to be the time I've spent with Hubert Sumlin.
