Members steve_man
It's not a horrible price considering new pricing on them...but the older ones were in the $500-600 range new. I'd offer $350 for it, and see what happens...
Members ILikeGuitar
price is pretty firm I think

Members Vintage55
I'd offer a little lower too and be prepared to walk away if you get a no, if you're doing the deal in person. If you do get a no, though, and really want the guitar, I'd pay the $400. $50 probably won't mean as much to you as NOT having a guitar you really want. If it turns out to be a great guitar for you (and that's almost impossible to tell until you've had it awhile) you won't care you paid a little more than you wanted to. Members snowaie
Definitely, if the guitar is YOUR guitar, no reason it's overpriced for that
Members ILikeGuitar
Can't play it in person, over the phone through a store I've been looking for an old 90s JV in black but I didn't know if this was an ok price
Members Doctor Morbius
A mint JV fitting that description just showed up in the Spam thread. It's not listed for $400 though.
Members ILikeGuitar
Hmm yeah that white one is pretty minty, a little over my budget but I'm actually lookin for a black one to make a Gilmourish strat
Members billy budapest
I've watched the prices of the JV strat fall fairly consistently since I sold mine about 18 months ago. It was a closet queen minty '97 in Oly white that I got $525 for. Since then, a JV can almost always be had for $425 or $400. With the condition that you describe, I would stick to an offer of $350. I don't think you'll get outbid and I'm sure that the seller wants it gone.
Members clay sails
$400 for a JV strat with cosmetic damage? Definitely a fair price. I haven't seen them for any less on Ebay.
Members steve_man
The damage is why I would not pay over $350 for it. If it was in mint condition, then that would be an okay price. Also, did you ask about the hardshell case? Is it a Fender? That would also influence me a bit.
Members steve_man
Could have picked up a brand new one today for $399...Fender Friday deals...
Members ILikeGuitar
Eh I found it at a musicgoround, they won't haggle and it's actually only with a gig bag now so I don't think I can do it right now. With the rust everywhere, finish crack, not being able to play it first and only a gigbag it's kind of hard to justify buying it. Steveman I was specifically looking for a 90s tinted black one to make a gilmour strat, but yeah that was a good deal on a new white one today
