Members metalheadUK
Anyone on here know if I can adjust the truss rod on a Fender American series Precision without taking the neck off? It's at the body end, and it LOOKS like I should be able to get a screwdriver in and adjust it without needing to remove/loosen the neck, but I want to check first. I know this should be in the Bass forum, but it's scary in there.....
Members jelloman
you should be able to use an offset (L-shaped) screwdriver to get in there...

Members Prages
My MIA P and J basses have all had hex wrenches with T grips and ball ends so you can adjust them. None of mine have had a screwdriver end though.

Members Super Bass
There may be a slot there if you remove the pickguard. If not you could get one cut out for future adjustments.

Id take the neck off anyway, to see if there is a shim in there. If there is, removing it, or adjusting it might correct the problem you are trying to fix with a trussrod adjustment. Of course a simple tweak of the truss rod might fix it, but I would still want to know.
Members Flogger59
Is it the vintage style adjustment with a large Phillips screw? You have to loosen the neck bolts enough to raise the neck so that the screw head clears the body. The new American Standards have a custom tool that allows you to adjust without touching the neck screws.
