Members stratedge09
The Charvel So-Cals fall just over the $1k mark, and I've never played one, but I sure do like them on paper. they play so good. I'd get one if I was still into metal.
Members MickSlick
If you bargain a bit or hit a sale you can still score a new American Fender Tele or Strat for right at $1,000 maybe $1,100.
Members Doctor Morbius
The Fender American Standard Strat and Teles are priced at $950 at my local Guitar Center.

Members Emory
You can get an Ovation vxt online for around $800. It is an amazing guitar regardless of price. The rest of my spendy pile is gathering dust. Top quality in all departments

Sad. This is why I buy used. The Roadworns mim's are $950. Fender lost their minds with the new prices and I hope it bites them in the ass. Gibson lost theirs a long time ago. Of course, Hamer, who used to be a lower priced alternative to Gibson is now priced higher in a lot of cases. My used Studio is an awsome guitar that was under $1000. New, I couldn't even touch one anymore. Recession? What Resession?

Members thirsty one
Check out Treker. Dave Bunker used to work with USA Ibanez. He has a new technology that eliminates dead spots on necks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130339396468&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT http://cgi.ebay.com/Treker-Flamed-Quilt-Top-Classic-57-Tension-Free-Neck_W0QQitemZ130352390919QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item1e599ba307

Members germanicus2112
Godin xtsa. Blows away just about anything else sub $1000 in terms of feature set. You get ebony fingerboard, locking tuners, H-S-H configuration pickups, Piezo saddle pickups, built in 3 band pream/eq, 13 pin output for midi converters. Very well made, solid guitar. I hadn't seen it before. Is it essentially G&L's take on the mustang? I can't tell - they don't give the scale-length...
