Members flamethrower
Any other great 'anti-tone' merchants worth considering? One of my favorites is Brad Laner of Medicine. That guitar tone could peel the paint of the walls, but he layers it on a dreamy pop song. It's like a delicious ice-cream sundae with Drain-O poured on top. Members googoomuck
Neil Haggerty ({censored} Galore, Royal Trux, Howling Hex) is probably my fave guitarist. although his tone on a few Royal Trux and Howling Hex albums is just vile - in a bad way! His guitars on all the PG stuff are vile too - but in the best possible way!
Members csm
Ever hear Willie Johnson's tone on Howlin' Wolf's original How Many More Years (cut in 1951 by Sam Phillips in Memphis)? Words like 'scary' and 'awesome' seem somehow indequate for such a towering monolith of pure FILF.

Tav Falco had a couple of moments on one or two albums, and has anyone mentioned Bryan Gregory, out of The Cramps. His playing on Human Fly (assuming it 'was' him) is just pornographic. Members csm
yeah. you'd think such a dirty tone would be against the law at that time. It WAS! Only an outlaw producer like Sam Phillips would've dared to record it.
