Members ronj5150
I have a guitar with a Licensed FR and I plan to replace it with an Original Floyd Rose. Has anyone done this before? Anything I should be aware of?
Members Roflmao
Not really. I had to pry up a metal base plate to install the new threaded posts and inserts. Other then that your good to go.
Members Blackhell
Well, it depends on what kind of LFR you have on there now. Is it floating or dive-only? If it's floating with the recessed cavity, then depending on the bridge you have in there now will determine if you can do it. Look at the locking posts. If they are like the locking posts like on the tremolo in the first link, then you may not be able to do it. If they are like the locking posts on the tremolo in the second link, then yes, you can do it easily. http://www.axcessories.com/proddetail.asp?prod=axfrtx100glds http://www.axcessories.com/proddetail.asp?prod=axfrpinggld
Members The Rossness
I have a guitar with a Licensed FR and I plan to replace it with an Original Floyd Rose. Has anyone done this before? Anything I should be aware of? Unless you're looking at the "Pro" model, I'd go with a Gotoh floyd over an OFR. Members ronj5150
Thanks for the feedback. The Trem looks like the FR Original....I have it side by side with my Strat that has a FRO. I might just pull the hardware from the FRO and leave the base in place since its not a cheap LFR like some that I've seen.
