after 4 drinks

It was fun listening to both! The second was much more aggressive and was probably my favorite, although either would have been a nice take on its own.
I loved the tones, particularly on the first, but both worked well. Great jobs! :thu:

I tried Slow Burn again after getting back an old friend, a guitar I had sold off. My old SX SST57 w/P90's. Alder Body. Thought this might be a nice place to show off the tonal variations of P90's on different bodies. The Gibson P90's are probably some of the best P90's in the world. I'm not expecting the SX P90's to compete but I still think you'll be able to hear basic differences due to body type and wood.

Really different tone... more edgy and bright... I still liked it though! It effected your playing somewhat! I'm listening with headphones, and it sounds like a bit of chorus or phase on this take as well... cool! Lots of great lick ideas and cool little bends. Enjoyed it very much! :thu:

Michael, beautiful BT!

I got POD Farm up and running, recorded one track with 2 seperate clean rigs, and another track of the guitar direct (ACID Pro 7 can do that where 4 couldn't), and added a different rig with just a hint of tube breakup, panned them a little bit left and a little bit right just to hear what's possible.

Stayed pretty clean for this one.

soburn: Nice phrasing. Very unhurried, I like that. Took the listener in at your own pace.

drinkburn: Rock-n-Roll! Much more urgent. Took the listener for a ride. Don't know if it's really about the drinks themselves or about being a bit more relaxed. Nice tail on the ending!

Yeah. I can hear the difference, it's brighter, and when it started, it felt almost like you stepped a decade farther back in time to me (minus the flanging). Both sound good. Another good take!

"Slow Burn"

Brett,

I liked this very much. The tone really matched the style of playing with a smoky bluesy jazzy feel that was a great fit for the backing. I listened with headphones on, so I could hear the parts of the tracks clearly... nicely done! I really like the "dribbling" licks, you've got great timing and feel with them. :thu:

Something happened to the sound quality, i.e. openness of the backing track. But, what can I say. You're a damned gymnast. Nice work!

Thanks Michael, I wanted to try to get a crying sound without relying on distorted overdrive. Those throw-off licks either work or they don't, and they get real "honest" without the gain if you know what I mean. Thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot. Gymnast?:p I don't know, I'm just trying to make what I'm doing interesting and not follow the same old patterns.

As to the sound, after I recorded the guitar track and tried to mix it, it felt like the bass was getting buried a little bit, so I boosted 178, 297, and 506 Hz a few db into a gentle boost curve with a peak around 297Hz.

I'm also running the Vintage Warmer plugin on the master. I normally use the "light driven tape" setting to warm up the sound as well as limit just the highest peaks to 0db. Tried a different setting on this one.

Good ears!

One of my favorite things to do is to just get together with other players and just jam cold on anything new. This is like therapy for me as well.

Okay, this one was on the other Hamer.

Doesn't get quite and "Peter Greeny" as the i21, but it's a sweet sounding guitar (and can do the out of phase tone). And the patch I used was called "Still Got The Blues.":D It was too obvious not to use it.
