Members Help!I'maRock!
if your guitar playing experience was anything like mine, it went something like this: bug your parents to buy you a guitar. they get you some cheap POS and say "i'll get you a proper one when you can play something". i started playing on a 70s strat copy with a 3 barrel bridge in the summer of '91. after 2 years, i got my '93 MIJ Ibanez RG. its been heavily modified and beat the crap out of during the past 16 years, but sounds and plays great. what's yours? Members Citizen_Insane
Started out on a 90's MIJ Squire Strat (which I still have), and graduated to a a Fender America Deluxe HH Strat w/ Floyd Rose 2 yrs later. Never really bonded with the Floyd Rose, so I sold the guitar and it now resides in the collection of Pixelchemist.

Members ForgetMeNacht
My first decent axe was Mexican Strat that I put a hotrail in the bridge. Before that was a BC Rich Warlock Platinum that was ok but compared mediocre compared to my latter axes, still have it as I had my first gigs/recordings with it. Members paulskirocks
Aaahh yes... In the summer of 1981, almost 17, I drove to a music store and bought a $70 POS... It really sucked... In fact, I have a good friend who still has it as kind of a joke... Well, in 1985, I found a barely used Washburn Falcon, made in around 1980... That is still my one and only electric, and I still think it's a great guitar... So, my first good electric guitar has been my only good one to date... Members 32-20-Blues
My first proper guitar was an American strat. I played on pawn shop nylon strings for 2 years, then got a cheap acoustic that I played for 4 years. When I was 19, I got the strat. Members Carbohydrates
DeArmond M75, an import line of Guild. It was a black, Les Paul-ish body with a trapeze tailpiece and double humbuckers. Good guitar, not great. I enjoyed it! Looked totally killer, too. Members Zemmy
you just quoted my mother from 1986 she bought me a lotus dreadnaught acoustic and said exactly that, "we'll get you an electric when you learn how to play this one" she kept her promise...and i've had this for 20 years

Members blood5150
Im with you OP... I had a {censored}ty cort and a busted old Kramer before I got my 1st "good" guitar back in 1993. A 1992 MIJ Ibanez RG470.
Members pickinatit
Learned on an old carved top, "f" hole accoustic (brand unknown). Then had a cheapo "Diamond" brand (Japanese) strat. copy. When I started gigging at about 15 it was with a Harmony H73, Roy Smeck signature model (see my avatar) that I still have (over fourty years old now). Members superdistortion
My first really good guitar was a 1982 made in Chicago Dean Z baby. I bought it with paper route money. It has a Schaller bridge and tuners, and a DiMarzio super distortion. They went all out back then.
Members Nephilim-777
Sears Roebuck no-named, Jackson knockoff for $39.00. Pawned it for $100.00 to an idiot that couldn't identify it, but it was pretty and sounded like an electric fart machine. Saved money for nearly two years and purchased a Jackson USA Soloist from the Custom Shop in the early 90's. Took nearly another year for the build completion. Members Brown Rug
My Mom bought me and my sister a Yamaha acoustic from Costco. Still have it. Played it until my Mom helped me buy my first electric, a Yamaha AES620. Great sounding guitar, retired in favor of the Les Paul I got a year later. Members Prages
I started out on a student sized classic guitar. Played for a couple of years, then quit. Got an electric for Christmas when I was 13 or so. It was a Dean 'Firecrackle' from the Sears catalog. I then built a guitar in wood shop my sophomore year, and built another couple of guitars during high school. My first truely good guitar was my PRS CE24, which I got when I graduated from high school in 1993.
Members o.versteer
Fernandes strat in 1988, black with maple neck, full on Blackie look, minus different looking headstock. Great, great, great guitar, wish I still had it. Sold to make way for my first Fender Stratocaster, an American Standard, in 1990. Wish I still had that too! Members Greg_In_Michigan
2000 model year American Deluxe Strat. I think I got it in 2002 as a Christmas present from my grandparents. Before that I was playing on a {censored}ter no name acoustic with country flavored accents on the pickguard that used to belong to my aunt. I think it was probably a late 70s to early 80s guitar. I still have it somewhere but the nut broke in half so it only has 3 strings lol.
