Members Bluesidae
Hi Gang, I want to record my guitar playing. Just simple Blues tunes. Nothing fancy - for my own uses and to share with friends. Recording directly into a computer is not an option and I do not want to spend a great deal of time editing the songs (I would rather spend the time playing the guitar ). The Zoom H4N seems like a popular option. Is there anything else out there that I should consider?? thanks in advance and Happy New Year!

Members Sisyphus2
I use a boss Br 600 for simple recording - easy to use and you get reasonble results - small enough to carry around as well. The only issue is that the max memory card it will take is only one gig - so not ideal in that sense.
Members super56k
If you want just simpler recordings look into the Zoom h2 instead, and the Tascam DR-07 is a nice cheap option as well with great sound quality.
Members benricci
Any of the portable Tascam recording units would serve you well. http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/navigation/tascam-multitrack-recorders-recording-pro-audio?N=100001+201139+338361&Ns=P_Price|0&rpp=
Members Bluesidae
thanks benricci. That is a terrific list. Have you used any of the Tascam products?
Members Bluesidae
I just took another look at benricci's list... I need more of a field recorder, something that will not need me to plug in my guitar. thanks
Members stormin1155
I just got a Zoom H2 for Christmas. I really haven't had the chance to give it a good workout, but the little I've messed around with it, it seems to do what I want it to. I think the biggest difference between the H2 and H4 is the H4 allows you to do overlay tracks (sound on sound), so would be more suitable for studio use. The H2 is a straight up simple recorder... sounds good, easy to use, and cheap.

Members JMR
Well, if you need something super cheap The LightSnake usb is okay, but quite noisy. I'm going to be using an M-audio fasttrak with a behringer C2 and I'll tell you how that works out
