What pickup are you using? Did you buy it new?

What are you using to solder desolder the pickup? Wattage is important, too much and you can overheat, not enough and the heat can be sucked away.

Were you ever applying heat to the pickup or the coil itself? Even inadvertently?

I think you could install and remove a pickup about 1,000 times as long as you only soldered the ends of the leads.

Not to be insulting, but my take is this... You could probably try your hand at repotting the pickup... just search from online tutorials or how-tos. There was a good one on TDPRI somewhere. On the other hand, if you managed to kill the pickup by heating just the end 8" or 12" from the pickup itself, sounds like you might be kinda reckless with your tools and I'd suggest you be careful, read every step three times and carefully work around head.

:poke:

Or call and ask if they would repair it for you. I've never dealt with Dimarzio, but since you ordered it directly from them, they might be willing to fix it for free or for the cost of shipping.
