Members Tedddy
Some guitars really agree with me ergonomically when playing standing up, Teles and SGs so far are my favorite, they seem to make me have to reach out my left arm a bit further than on a Strat or a LP, and I feel like this puts my hand in a better playing position. I like a long reach, but not too long, eg, a Firebird. I have a Thunderbird bass and the reach is so long it is unplayable for me. I have a Danelectro that I really like but the nut is too close to me, the reach is too short, it feels cramped, so I will likely try moving the strap button to the upper horn. SO, have you done this mod, and which guitars did it most benefit? Did it ever make it worse instead of better?
Members shredloud
I just did this to my ESP Alexi guitar, (looks like a really big Jackson Rhoads shape). It was ridiculously neck heavy so I put the upper strap button dead center behind the neck (where the neck plate would be on a bolt on) and it's perfect! Members carguy
Funny you should mention this. I have an Epi Jumbo acoustic that has a strap button located on the bottom of the horn instead of the top. I never understood why Epiphone did that. Every other button has been on the top of the horn. Using a strap with that configuration causes the the guitar to tip forward and is very awkward to play standing up. I took a Martin strap button jigger I had that threads under the strings between the nut and the tuning pegs and I use that now instead of the original strap button. If all this sounds confusing, let me know and I can post a picture.
Members carguy
My post above is so confusing I can't even understand it. Here's pics of what I'm trying to say: First the stupid location of the strap button And the jigger I'm using now
Members danhan1113
I put my Jackson's strap button behind the horn istead of at the tip.
