Members Mudder1310
Frusciante plays vintage guitars, so I'd opt for the most vintage set GFS offers. Then go with then neck or middle position through a fender-y amp, blues Jr?
Members eurotrashed
Wasn't that album recorded with a Jag? Or was it just under the bridge? You could stick Jag pickups in it. Or since Jag and Strat pups are very simular, the Jag pickups are just a tad hotter with the added claws and I think another difference, you could wire it with two 1Meg pots to brighten the guitar up to Jag territory. Members stratocaster202
The album or the song? I'd recommend fuzz plus tone know rolled far down. Bareknuckle pickups do a set called mother's milk, check the specs on those and see what matches on GFS

I believe the jag was just used for the video as the director of the vid didn't want a beat up strat in the vid but I may be wrong on that. I'm pretty dead certain a strat was used to record it though (or most of it)

Members stormin1155
I have a set of GFS premium overwound alnico Vs and a set of GFS premium alnico IIs. Both good sets. the IIs are definately more vintagy sounding with great quack in positions 2/4... the Vs are more like a Texas wound.

I thought I read that it was a Fender Jag. He definitely played a Strat live though. I think it sounded great on the album, yet you can hear some string buzz on many of the tracks. Perhaps, the action was super low or maybe it needed a fret job.

I'm pretty dead certain a strat was used to record it though (or most of it) Um. Hell No. He used a Jag heavily during his early career. He still has some Jags and used them as his "warm up" guitars later in his career and used Strats live. The use of the Jag in the video was not a superficial image thing that the director demanded. Frusciante likes Jaguars. Here is a thread about the Jag. A heavily yellowed Lake Placid Blue Jaguar.http://www.yourforumisgluedtoasiteonfire.net/index.php?showtopic=2718 While the whole album might have not been with the Jaguar. Under The Bridge certainly is. I've seen him use a red Jag live also I believe.
