Members InnerVision
What pups are going to sound more full/round in a strat? I'm trying to get away from piercing highs and want good mids and a smooth sound..What I don't want is extreme high output/emg sound. For reference..I really love the way my SG sounds.. Members Alecto
You haven't said whether your guitar has a rosewood or maple fretboard so I'm not sure how much treble you're trying to tame. Off-hand, I'd suggest the Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro set. They're warmer than your typical PAF, and get great clean and distorted tones. The Rio Grande Texas/BBQ set offers more crunch (similar to the JB) without the piercing highs. I have a set in my alder-bodied/ebony fretboard Carvin and I love them. Other people have complimented me on that tone too, so it's not just me. I'm sure Norcal_Gtr will be along to recommend his BG Pickups. They get a lot of love on this forum, and for very good reason. Members EADGBE
Duncan JB at the bridge. '59 at the neck. 500K pots. .022 cap(s) for tone(s). Edit: you said PAF. DiMarzio PAF types with alnico 5 bar magnets. Or Duncan '59s.

I'm a big fan of the JB but I know some people complain about the highs from that pickup. It's a great PU if you're playing in a band, but has been accused of sounding thin in a solo context.
