Members foppy
And we do have a few members for who hold to a strict fundamentalist interpretation of the rules and prefer there to only be electric guitar related threads here. That would be me, I guess, but only on political stuff. When I want to be aggravated by opinions I consider to be nuts, I go to PP.

Not that I disagree with you either. I dislike coming to EG and finding topics best left for GJ or PP myself, but I don't mind if there's an event that's happening which is affecting a lot of members like holidays, cold or hot weather, disasters.. etc.

Members Annoying Twit
98% of statistics are made up. That one isn't. It came from the link before, and came from properly undertaken serious research. So, serious research is answered with a "sound bite". That's completely typical of discussions on climate change. Members Cymro#1
Apparently we're going to have some serious snow Sunday and Monday. Now all this is very uncharacteristic of British climate. Personally I believe man's abuse of the earth is having an effect. Now I can't quote you facts and figures, an I am in no way an expert on global warming but from the tv programmes I've seen on the debate it would seem to me that we need to drastically change our wasteful ways...and soon!

Members DarkHorizon
Global warming is a strange argument. The sun has the most impact on how hot the planet is and the vast majority of CO2 emissions have nothing to do with us. Its a bit like the emperors new clothes, no one is allowed to argue against it now.I am starting to feel like one of those polar explorers in the film "The Thing" now with all the snow. Having said that I am getting loads of guitar practice in which is always a good thing

Fact: There has been a huge increase in the number of scientists who are openly skeptical of the "man is the cause of global warming" theory. - The Climate Change Climate Change Also note that many scientists have felt persecuted over their belief that man is not a major contributor to climate change and many admit to only supporting that theory out of fear. Fact: The earth has been a lot warmer and a lot colder before man could be blamed. - What exactly do you propose we do when it does one of the two all on it's own, like it has in the past? EDIT: I forgot to add that very little of CO2 is left in the atmosphere. The oceans absorb most of it.
Members mymindsok
Ah.... It's all about sun cycles kids! Sun cycles combined with a few crazies who are planning on running the entire world anyway... I was living in Rochester, NY, the week that it snowed 15 feet in 24 hours. Come morning, we dug out and went to work. It's all in your perspective!

Most sensible people will listen and learn from scientists who have devoted their lives to solving the warming issue. The IPCC recently found "unequivocal" evidence to support the human role in warmingRead aricles by The committee on Science ad Climate Change, The Congressional Research Service and of course the huge work by 3000 scientists in the IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change)Oh yes, It would be worth your while looking at some work by Kitack Lee a marine scientist in Miami University who has evidence to support the fact that global warming profoundly influences oceanic ventilation so decreasing greatly the sea's ability to absorb CO2 hence the massive abundance in the atmosphere now. Members MichaelSaulnier
I like snow. It's fun to play in... and as a kid... snow days were welcomed with cries of joy and a mad dash for gloves, hats, boots, jackets, and sleds!Sure it can mess up guitar deliveries and gigs...But when those get rescheduled... just think how much more fun it will be.Of course, I'm sitting here in shorts and t-shirt, with the screen door open, just enjoying the noon time sun. Mid 70's is predicted... if I go out, may have to put on a bit of sunscreen. That's the other negative to the depletion of the Ozone, less protection from solar radiation. If anyone wants... I can send you a big box of warm San Diego air.Only 19.99 plus shipping and handling. And if you order today, I'll include, at no extra charge, a few fresh flowers from the garden. These are the same scientists that up until the early 1980's said we were heading for the next ice age. Its not that we are not damaging and poisoning the planet just the global warming thing does not quite seem right to me other than it being a natural cycle the planet goes through.Back to the guitars
Members MickSlick
to the anti-global warming peeps: The fact that it is currently colder doesn't prove anything against global warming, which is measured over longer time and the trend is still that the overall climate is continuing to warm.In fact, it is to be expected that it gets colder as melting polar ice means that the seas will initially become slightly colder (the gulfstream for one will disappear) Yeah, like being accurately measured for only the past 100 years or so since that's how long we've had somewhat current meteorological equipment and comparing that to millions of years where we didn't and now we in all our brilliance claim we have nailed an unprecedented global warming trend in spite of the earth warming and cooling for eons, grapes were once grown in Greenland for Pete's sake and that was before any SUV's or millions of cows were belching gas into the atmosphere. I think a lot of folks are setting themselves up to look very foolish in the next number of years because they have the arrogance to think they can predict these trends with limited history and limited minds. If it wasn't bad enough that Cymru had to add to the constant news reports about snow here (hello? I did notice there was snow outside... and in another story?)... we have to put up with the repeated ignorance of people who have trouble understanding science. Mind you, this is from the country where some schools still teach creationism, so maybe it's not all that surprising.
