Members EthylOH
Hey peoples, I currently have a PRS CE22, but I really miss having a FR tremolo. Years back, I had an RG570 (Made in Japan), but I sold it a long time ago. I'm a huge fan of the Wizard neck, and I loved the old Lo-Pro Edge tremolo. How are the new Prestige Series guitars? Since they are made in Japan, I'm assuming they are comparable to the old RG570's/RG550's/S540's etc... Also, how is the new tremolo? I've heard lot's of complaints about the Edge III on the lower-end Korean/Indonesian models (RG370DX etc...), so is this a big upgrade? Speaking of which, is there a huge difference in overall quality on the Prestige line versus their cheaper line? (I'd like to try one, but none of the local music stores have any in stock) Thanks in advance.
Members *BLEEP*
All the Prestiges are definitely good quality instruments. However, the prices for this model lineup is typically a tad excessive. I don't know if you have a Geetar Center near you, but, if you are patient, GC will routinely mark these down to move them out. Hey hey hey! I have that exact Ibanez model LOL. It just so happens that my RG370DX stays in tune no matter what. I'm not a major whammy abuser like some but I like to haul on every now and then and I never have to worry about the thing going out of tune. All in all it's a great guitar too! I want the RG1570. AMS has one in the scratch & dent section for $750.GC wants $1000 for the same guitar. However, if you search for "RG1570" on the website, a special promotion comes up with a blue RG1570 & crybaby wah for around $650. Unfortunately, when you click on the link, it says that the item is sold out/no longer available (which is funny, because they still have the guitar and wah in stock separately). If I can even get just the guitar for $650, I'll jump on it in a second. We'll see.
Members primemover12
If you check on ebay, several music stores clear out their NOS RG1570s for $
Members *BLEEP*
Ibanez RG1570 At a Guitar Center sale about a year ago, I could've had a Prestige S2170FW (esoteric tapered body with a spalted poplar top) for a measly $799 with hardshell case included. I didn't have the cash. The 2 they had were gone before closing time that day. Ibanez Prestige S2170FW

I remember seeing that exact guitar, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to drop $800 for another guitar at the time.
Members danhan1113
The RG1570 is a VERY good guitar. Like most Ibanez guitars, you may want to swap PU's though.
Members RaVenCAD
I owned a 1570 a few years back.. The bridge is without equal. Simply the best Floyd Rose type bridge I've ever played. The pups were also without equal. Simply the worst stock pickups I've ever played. I sold mine because the neck hurt my hand. If you can tolerate that neck, it's a great guitar. Way overpriced now though.
Members Eddie
I agree. Crappy pickups and overpriced. I came close to buying one when they had the $100 off promo. Some places had them for $650-$750 before the rebate so the price was more attractive. I got a Floyd Rose Redmond instead. Felt better, sounded nicer, and was relatively cheap. It was already on sale, and then had a 20% off discount on eBay. I don't know how that works, but suddenly it had a discount for 12 hours or so. When I got it, it had a scratch. Instead of returning it I agreed to keep it and got another discount. The negatives on that one are the lack of a tone knob, and the use of their strings at $11 a set. Initial setup was also a PITA, but now if I have to change strings I could probably change all strings and have the guitar in tune in about one minute. Pretty nice. Members mosiddiqi
I bought the red mirage finish one a couple of years ago at a bargain price and it's a great guitar. I did change the pickups though...the neck pickup wasn't too bad, but the bridge was horrible. The Edge Pro is brilliant, up there with an original FR imo. Members Jacksix
If I were looking now for a FR Ibanez, I would be looking for an S540 radius, but beware, they are going up in price, thank you Herman Li. However, they are still less than the prestige line.If you want to really shop high end Ibanez, check out Ibanezrules.com Rich is a good guy and he has the best stuff new and used. not quantity, quality. -Jacksix

I could only find two places on the internet that sold the left handed tremolo arm I needed. An ebay store selling it for $40 (+shipping) and Rich who sells it for $15.
