I have picked up another 'waif and stray' from a charity shop. It's a "Lincoln" symmetrical double cutaway, a laminated body comprising a piece of yellowy wood (basswood?) between two slices of sapele. The neck goes from from strap button to headstock and is two pieces of sapele laminated between three pieces of sapele.

It has what appear to be two DiMarzio h/bs and one vol/one tone.

It was quite unimaginably filthy but before I stripped it to clean it I put it through an amp and everything works ok. If it's not Matsumouku I'll eat it - but I'd still like to hear any further infomation on it from any one who can cast any light. I think when cleaned it will be a very handsome instrument, in spite of a few knocks and dings.

I took the photos but had trouble with Photobucket - I think my Pentax software affected it. It kept going into "Programme not responding" mode.

I've managed to upload them now though. And the guitar is tidied up and restrung. I had to chip the dried on sweat accumalations off with a craft knife, ugh! The guitar is a decent bit of kit though - everything works, it sounds really bluesy but not as sweet as my "Westbury".

I love finding neglected old quality guitars in boot-sales and junkshops, then tidying them up. The wife's not too keen though!

Now that it's all restrung I'm not too keen on the sound - it's a bit "Telecaster-ish". I think I'll try to sell it on.

The p'ups look the same as those on the Westbury but the sound is totally different, did DiMarzio make different specs of p'up - or is it just the tone woods that make the difference? The Westbury is solid Mahogany right through.
