I thanks all the people who have commented on this post previously..I really want to trade my MIM H.S.S Floyd Rose for a very nice Dipinto Galaxie 4...But one of my band mates is seriously against it saying i would be making a mistake..

This is his reasons..

1..Dipinto he's never heard of it so it is an off brand with no resale..

2..The MIM Floyd Rose is worth more..

3..I would have problems selling the Dipinto because no one has heard of it..

4..The Floyd rose is a sweat playing and sounding guitar..

5..He says its ugly

Now here are my answers to his reasons..

1..I think the Dipinto would be easier to sell because it is unique with not many on the market

2..I think both guitars are equal in value they both sell for $600 and change new and $350 to $400 used

3..I refereed back to number 1 on this one ..Plus we are not looking at a huge amount of money here..

4..He is correct about this ..But i don't like Floyds and i want something new..

5..I think the Dipinto is a great looking guitar i love the fact it looks different with it's 4 pick ups ..

Do you feel that $350 is to much on a used Dipinto Galaxie 4 and what is your opinion

I never base my gear purchases on whether I'll be able to sell it or not. I buy carefully, and buy for keeps. The Dipintos are great guitars and they may not be well know, but they have a large following amongst guitar nerds. If that's what you want, get it.

Thanks for all your votes of confidence..I have wanted this guitar since the first minute i saw it...The reviews are tremendous and i don't care about the Floyd Rose...I will be home in about 4 hours and hopefully the guitar will still be available as of yesterday the last time i spoke with him he said the trade was still on so i have no other reason to think otherwise....

As soon as i get it i will give a review and post pics...

I think the DiPintos look cool and have sounded fine when I've seen Los Straitjackets using them.

Word. And I've played 'em (being from the area, been in the store many times). Cool ass axes. Would you have another Strat in yer arsenal anyhoo? I am dead set against FR's. Clipping the ball end off of strings is WRONG.

Seriously, DiPinto's are cool and you're looking value-wise about square. Everyone has a Strat (and I love 'em), but hey.......

I have a DiPinto G-4 LS model and it's really a nice sounding/playing guitar. I'll confess I haven't played it all that often (but the same is true of my Jazzmasters), but that's only because I have more guitars than most ma and pa stores do.

But from my take on that guitar, they are very similar in most respects to a Jazzmaster, but the pickups are a bit hotter which gives them a bit more of a more modern surf/ballsy tone to them, i.e. lots of vibe and not as thin as a JM. I often advocate them here on these boards instead of someone paying more money for a Made In Mexico version of a Jazzmaster.

The fit and finish on them is as good as any Asian import in that price range. The pickups are designed by DiPinto so the company tone is there. I guess I'm just trying to say that it's not like some other companies where the Asian manufacturer comes up with something to mimic but fall short of the MIA counterpart.

And the 4 pickups with independent switching is cool

I partly had to get one, because my very first electric guitar EVER, had 4 single coil p'ups. So it was a bit like deja vu for me.
