I think it's good to see a female guitar player with some chops. Good for her. Unfortunately I heard her play on tv somewhere a couple weeks ago and the song was terrible. Just a sort of watered-down, bland, poppy hair metal with her fancy licks thrown in here and there.

She might be better served putting together a legitimate band, getting a real vocalist and concentrating on songwriting.

Of course this is based on one song, but it certainly hasn't given me any desire to seek out her other music. And I assume since it was only one song that it was the single I heard.

She can play. But let's be honest. If she was not a good looking blond chick- would she be where she is now?

Players like her are a dime a dozen. The only difference is that most of them have a penis.

Listen to "According to You," nothing but cheesy recycled 80's licks. Sorry to flame......

Can I watch with the sound off?

For Steve's dancing:confused::thu:

I think Oranthi's got some good ability, her blond femaleness doesn't harm and may be why she's been picked up as Santana's prodegy, but this doesn't undermine her ability.

What does is the songs. I always think (as does an earlier poster) of Japanese inspired cartoon/gamer type stuff when I here this kind of thing

This song has signature Vai written all over it, I'll bet he wrote it or had a big hand in producing it.

For the Orianthi hate, give her time to grow and develop as a songwriter and figure out exactly who she wants to be musically. I listened to her album and while not great does show some promise in a few tunes. If she can hit the charts with a few successful pop tunes likely she'll have a bit more freedom to do what she wants (ie John Mayer).

I had heard the song before, thought it was one of the best songs on her album, btw. But, I always thought it sounded like a Vai tune... now I know why

Yes, I'm an idiot.

For the record, I like some of her songs... fun stuff, even if it is cheesy pop-rock.

Good point. Wonder how many Mayer haters there were until his blues album.

I REALLY like it, thanks for posting! Might have to check her out.

She definitely has better taste in guitars (or at least in finishes). I love Ibanez, but Steve's use of neon colors on an otherwise reserved (for him) is pretty ugly, during the 80's or now.

I like obviously millions of others, bought his big album back in the late 80's early 90's, but could never really get into most of it, so I sold it just like everyone else did, apparently, as mine was the 8th or 9th used copy there.

Oh, the good ole' days, when you could actually sell a cd...

The world needs another instrumental shred fest like I need a hole in my head.

I'm not gonna argue with you there.

The only problem is that Orianthi isn't the right person to deliver said shred fest, which is why I stick with guys like Chris Brooks and Rick Graham when I want to be blown away by great tunes and insane playing.

That's more like it.
