You should check out the KEYBOARD forum.

What a serious bunch of eggheads.

You need an I.Q. of at least 300 to even be let in the door.

I snuck in the back and was promptly escorted out. :cop::facepalm:

They use WAY too many big words for me to even have a CLUE what they are talking about.

I mean, who TALKS like this?

" The GPU in your computer is a massive resource for DSP processing that's going untapped because people are just starting to explore its possibilities w.r.t. signal processing, and languages (like OpenCL) to exploit it in a "normal" programming environment are just starting to gain traction. There are lots of possibilities there that don't currently exist, the least of which is potentially speeding up calculations required for physical modelling. It also poses some interesting possibilities for synthesis (the GPU works on blocks of data, which would make it useful for doing things like applying one type of filter to the first 0.00002 sec of a sound, another type to the next 0.00002 sec, and so on). Again, though, all of this is heady stuff so it will take some time to digest and comprehend."

Whut?

actually I understand all of this, im just funin with them.

They ARE eggheads though.

{censored}.

i understood all of that.

Yeah, I did too. I just didn't want to sound like a {censored}ing nerd...

To be honest, using your GPU's power to process sound is a pretty ingenious idea, and the sounds you could make by applying a different filter every .00002 of a second must be pretty wild. Too bad I don't have a keyboardist.

I talk like that when I'm not very lucid...after a coffee though, I amp it up.

Being a computer programmer, most of that actually made sense to me. But wouldn't it be difficult to use the GPU to do sound processing and play World of Warcraft simultaneously. That would not be good for the game. :poke:

Whatever man, WoW's min system requirements are so low that you could probably run it on a toaster at this point...

The acoustic forum isn't full of nerds, it's full of crunchy, organic types. Most of whom are not nerdy, they just smell bad.
