Members AxAxSxS
Hiya, I just bought a Les Paul from fleabay, and its just the body and neck. I plan on building it up when I am home on leave wich isn't for a few months so I have time to do some shopping for parts. I have some grover tuners I am planning on using, but aside from that, I will need to buy pretty much everything else. So hit me up with your advice! What should I get for it and where should I get it from? Every lil thing you always wanted to do to a gibson is fair game with this guitar because its allready far gone from being stock. The headstock allready has holes from aftermarket tuners that I think will line up with the ones I have. I am not so concerned with making it look original as I am with it being great guitar. But I do want it to look classy. I am thinking chrome for the hardware. Thanks

Members hshaitan
I'd go for chrome hardware... or black... For pickups I would do Burstbucker Pro's, which are amazing IMHO. I'd also get some nice pots and caps with the caps being reminiscent vintage caps and the pots being CTS. One day, and if you can find it, I would like to get all rosewood parts for all the plastic pieces, truss rod cover, back plates, pickup rings. They seem next to impossible to find for a Les Paul though...
Members _pete_
What pups are you using? I have a double black Duncan JB and a black Gibson 490T if you're interested.
Members ExiledCrow
Have a Super 3 in my Epi LP and LOVE it! Great sustain, full, thick sound.
Members shred and roll
If you have the money you could put a Callaham bridge in it. Or I've heard that Gotoh makes a good tune-o-matic. Other than that DiMarzio PAFs should be great in there. And 500K CTS pots, two .022 mylar caps and copper foil tape to shield the control compartment. Members AxAxSxS
ok, looks like I am going with the super 3 for the bridge pup, Thinking either a burstbucker or Lace Hemi for the neck. Kinda very different pups, but I have both and could just swap it out with something else. I'd like to have Chrome covers on both pups, If I cover the super3, will it affect the tone in a major way? IMO sound>looks
Members ExiledCrow
I've still got the neck covered and the Super 3 uncovered so it looks a lil But it's a double cream, which I like, so I'll probably never cover it.

Ordered a Gotoh tailpiece and a schaller roller bridge. I'm hoping that helps with my heavy handedness and string breakage. Going with the super3 for sure and I think the burstbucker is out as it is not set up for split as it is. think I will leave that in the guitar its in as I like it there anyways. I'm going to go for this - Has anybody done this? Is it worth doing? Looks interesting and different and I like that

Members ExiledCrow
I think there's a few guys on the board here that have done it, not sure who though, you could always post a new thread for it.
Members docjeffrey
I would go with nickel plated parts. They age really gracefully. Tone Pros Locking ABR style bridge Gotoh lightweight aluminum stop tailpiece (aluminum is crucial for tone) Lollar Imperial pickups RS Guitarworks prewired electronics kit Bone nut
