Members jbandy10
I'm not quite talking teh brootz. But I play progressive metal that has about as much gain as petrucci on steroids. Would it be suited to that kind of thing? Or is it more of an 80's metal pickup?
Members RaVenCAD
The better question is......... Can you? Any guitar can do anything you can make it do..
Members jbandy10
True, but certain pickups are better suited to certain applications. For example, you wouldn't try playing Meshuggah stuff with a Fender strat. It's jut illogical.
Members RaVenCAD
oh, it's a pickup.. I thought it was one of their guitars. In that case, it does matter. I an't help you with it though, cuz i've never heard it before.

Members BydoEmpire
I didn't know Doug Aldrich had his own Suhr pickup - he's a great player. Whitesnake isn't quite metal, but they do heavy stuff. Sounds like it can handle it: The result of collaboration between John Suhr and rock guitarist extraordinaire Doug Aldrich, the Aldrich humbuckers are the ultimate high-output pickups for aggressive rock style of playing. The Aldrich bridge humbucker is now our highest output pickup but it oozes tone across its sound spectrum. It is big sounding yet focused and punchy in the mids and tight in the lows. You will never hear this pickup get flubby and undefined in the highest gain settings. The high-mids will cut through like the sharpest knife but the treble will be sweet and never grating on the ears. From chunky low-string metal riffing to screaming string bends in the high register, the Aldrich bridge humbucker covers them all while retaining the dynamics of your picking attack. http://www.suhrguitars.com/pickups.aspx#DA
Members jbandy10
Yeah I saw that video. Honestly I like them both. The EMG's sound more defined but the Aldrich's sound warmer.
Members HELSTRUME
The Aldrich is like a better sounding JB. Tight with tight bass, and good treble/high mid crunch. I'm torn between it, and the Dimarzio D activators.
Members HELSTRUME
BTW: A few people use the Aldrich on the amp forum. Ask them about em.

Members HELSTRUME
Funny because the Dactivators were my other choice.Care to elaborate? Both are about the same basic eq, and high output. I believe the Aldrich is warmer, and more musical sounding. But the Ds have a good modern sound. I need to compare em side by side, if I can. People have told me the Aldrich has better bass, and thats why they went with them.
